Okay I did the Confession, Rosary, and Rosary Meditation requirements for the First Saturdays devotion. But because of “unexpected family matters” that suddenly came up, I was not able to get the Holy Communion requirement.

So what I just did is to go to Sunday Mass today and received Holy Communion with telling our Lord Jesus and Mama Mary that if it is okay with them to just make this my Holy Communion for my First Saturdays requirement.

Do you think this could still be valid? Are there examples or stories out there of people who just made the Sunday Mass Holy Communion their First Saturday requirement after missing it?

How about going to confession and asking the confessor to make it valid, is that okay?

Look, all the prayers are wonderful and will do good. But the first Saturdays are, I believe, private revelation and not official church teaching. I don’t personally see why it all has to be on the first Saturday of the month, but since that’s what the rules say, if you missed communion you have to start over.

Personally, I think your approach is fine, but I don’t really buy into the first Saturday devotions since to me they seem too formulaic with a guaranteed outcome… I prefer to stick to the official church teachings. If you believe the private revelation then no priest can ‘make your communion count’. The rules are the rules.

I totally agree with you.

First off, it is a principle of all contemplatives that God calls His servants to take care of His people. If prayer gets interrupted by duty, that is not an interruption but a continuation of prayer, through action and love.

So having your Saturdays interrupted by having to do something else was a sign of favor from the Lord. He had you serving Him and being with Him. Not the same as Mass and Communion, but a special assignment by Him. Yay!

So you will not lose anything by doing His will.

The kids at Fatima were actually prevented from following Mary’s requests at certain times, either by obedience to parents and authorities, or by the time they were kidnapped and jailed. They did not lose out. So why would you?

Lastly, there are a lot of people who do all the First Saturdays as a habit. You do not have to begin and end at seven contiguous First Saturdays. Less bother about counting, that way.

ok thanks 😉

Yes it is a valid communion on Sunday. You have 8 days to go to Communion and Confession.

Yes a private devotion the Pope follows , and this year he is celebrating the 100th Anniversary.
The Pope has declared this a Jubilee Year of Fatima and is visiting Fatima.

You would have fulfilled your First Saturday Communion obligation by Communion in Mass on Sunday.
There is no need to start over.
You can do confession and communion within 8 days of the first Saturday. These sacraments must be made with the intention of reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
You must also, on the first Saturday, pray for the Pope, do a mystery set of the Rosary , 5 decades, and spend 15 min meditating the mysteries.

The First Saturday is all about reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Blessed Virgin Mary. The Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ set the rules.

DEVOTION OF THE FIVE FIRST SATURDAYS

The following is an explanation of the conditions contained in Our Lady’s request regarding the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays of the Month.

Confess and receive Holy Communion
On February 15, 1926 the Child Jesus alone came to visit Sr. Lucia and asked if the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was being propagated. Sr. Lucia spoke of a difficulty some people have in confessing on the first Saturday, and asked if they might be allowed eight days in order to fulfill Our Lady’s requests. Jesus answered: “Yes, even more time still, as long as they receive Me in the state of grace and have the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

This is a private devotion requested by Our Lady of Fatima.
It is the 100th year Anniversary of those Apparitions this year between May 13 and October 13.
, 2017. Pope Francis will be in Fatima for May 13. Pope Francis has also granted a plenary indulgence each month on the 13th between May and October 2017, with conditions.
If you can go to the Sanctury of Fatima, the plenary indulgence is all year.
