Was Padre Pio a fraud

I heard that the saint Padre Pio faked his stigmata and that there was undeneyable evidence that he used acid for his stigmatas. Is any of this true? can you please give me something saying that all these claims are not true?

First: whom God loves the devil hates. There will always be lies spread about any holy person. What source did you hear from, that made this claim? What reason have you to think that source is at all reliable?

Second: Padre Pio is a canonized Saint. Mother Church takes very great care to investigate the whole life of any candidate for Sainthood. Had there been any reason at all to suspect Padre Pio of faking the stigmata, the Church would have known and thoroughly investigated that evidence.

Ask the doubter to produce his own evidence. What is his source? How reliable is it, and can he prove that reliability? How does he refute the Church’s research findings, or your own sources?

If St. Pio’s stigmata was fakery, there is no way he would be canonized today. I have no doubt that the Church investigated everything about him very carefully. Even the miracles from any saint’s intercession after they are dead undergoes extensive scrutiny.

Before doing anything, verify the credibility of what you “heard”…ask who you heard it from for some data besides they “read it somewhere, or someone told them”…if you “heard” it from a website, track down the sources of the claims.

Yes and what is fascinating about Padre Pio is he had stigmata as a shoulder wound too, which Christ suffered from carrying the cross, and which was revealed to St. Bernard.

He definitely was not. There are a few books on how rigorously Padre Pio was investigated during his time by many diligent skeptics. This is well documented.

If he faked them, he would’ve had to do so over a 50-year period without them ever getting infected or healing. That’d be the greater miracle, if you ask me.

Yeah, right, like the Vatican is really going to canonize a person in the face of “undeniable evidence” that they were a fake. As a lawyer, usually when someone claims there is “undeniable” evidence of anything, my BS detector starts ringing multiple alarms.

The Vatican has a devil’s advocate to look into all this stuff thoroughly before they beatify or canonize anyone. I’d suggest you trust in their process, as sainthood is not an easy thing to achieve, especially for non-martyrs.

I’d suggest if you run into someone who’s that bent on doubting, just laugh at them, say a prayer for them, and go on your way.

During his life, he was watched by a skeptic to see if it was genuine. Of course, he passed (though the skeptic would say it was some subconscious manifestation yadda yadda).

He used some acid to clean needles. People want to say he used it to open up wounds. This ignores the fact that he was watched to see if there was any fakery about, that the wounds smelled sweet and not like the acid would make it smell, etc.

It should also be noted that such an “explanation” would ignore the massive amounts of blood loss he suffered every day or the various other miracles accomplished by him.

St.Padre Pio had to fight off Satan many times, he would come and torture Padre Pio mostly at night.Padre Pio fought him off, as he will do now, as the evil one tries to lay false claims against him.

What I’m more curious about are why there are no pictures of his healed stigmata after death and also why the stigmata was in his hand and not his wrist like Jesus was hung on the cross. Still I tend to think the church highly investigated these things!
