I’m confused. Was Satan denied entry into heaven, or was he in heaven and then kicked out?

He was an Angel in heaven named Lucifer closest or very close to God

then he rebelled and became proud and fell from heaven and lost all his grace

in Revelation it talks about St Michael fighting the dragon/Satan in heaven and casting him out of heaven

Satan was not in the beatific vision, the Angels were given a choice of weather to join God or not, Lucifer chose poorly and so a war began.

He was in heaven, created in heaven, in the sight of God. He was an angel before he was a demon (as were all other demons). According to much piety, Lucifer was the highest of the angels, but that wasn’t enough for him: he wanted to be like God. He, along with some other angels, very close to the moment of their creation (but after the end of the seventh day in Genesis 1) committed what was essentially the same sin as Adam and Eve, who also wanted to be like God: and Lucifer had tempted them to this sin, after his own attempt to become a god had failed, and he had been cast in to the pit. (Some say that Lucifer fell at the same time man did, due to his temptation of Eve.)

But, Satan was created an Angel; he was not satisfied with his estate. He desired to be like God, so he rebelled, and sinned. He then after being cast down by St Michael, who was appointed by God for this purpose, tempted Eve to try again his once-failed plan, to become like God, but by this time eating of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, which was for her and Adam to sin, and cast us all out of the Garden: whence Original Sin.

The Bible speaks of this, in the fourteenth chapter of the Prophet Isaiah, chapter 14, verses 9 through 16 (Authorized King James Version):
Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us? Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;…
The expulsion of Satan, from the Apocalypse, chapter 12, verses 7 through 12 (Authorized King James Version):
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
But, at least as of the time of Job (and probably today), Satan is not barred from Heaven. He is only expelled from Heaven with finality, expelled from Heaven in to the lake of fire prepared for the devil and his angels, while Death is killed, in the end times. As, in the beginning of the book of Job, is is plainly stated that Satan comes before God to accuse Job; this strongly implies that Satan has access to heaven (the third heaven) at the present moment. It is certain that demons and Satan have “full run”, so to speak, to attempt to interfere with God in the first and second heavens (this temporal universe), as spoken of in the book of Daniel, and especially the book of Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 12, and chapter 2, verses 1f.
