Well, I’m not an expert on this but I know he had a large following thanks to his sorcery. And he is considered a gnostic, and he had followers who became the heretical gnostic sects. If you’re interested in finding out more about him, you can start with Acts 8, then you might want to read the apocryphal Acts of Peter - its an early and pretty accurate text, considering many of the things described in it are part of Catholic tradition. Thank You for your patience I read as much for tonight I put it in my favorites to finish tomorrow it pritty much has almost all I wanted to know about that scoundral simon,I’m realy in belief my mother did well in bringing me up Catholic. She was Roman Catholic and her strictness made us go differnt ways and alot of other reasons. So my knowledge of the bible was ok just my knowledge of what the church teaches and all the saints after Paul and Peter form then on I’m lost. But the more I read and ask questions to the right people,and I can put it all together I can be a great witness for the Lord and perhaps the Church.I do know alot of people of differnt faiths(alot) There is a group of people who wrote a book and said simon peter margus started the Catholic church so thats why I asked. On the other hand, people who believe the Catholic Church got their Simons mixed up will probably believe that Dan Brown writes history! In reality, Brown is sort of a spiritual son of Simon Magus, through his followers, through the Nag Hammadi gnostic texts, which any true Christian which would laugh at if they read them. [/SIGN], I was reading that Simon Magus was baptised by Philip,and after that John and Philip were going to lay hands on the others they had baptized so they could be blessed by the Holy Spirit. Now when an infant gets baptised like I was does the Holy Spirit come then or on the first communion? I could tell you some things that happened to me when I was very young and at 7or8 and other times in my life, but I dont want to scare you or for you to think I was a nut. I know one time I was praying and I ran down the stairs and my feet never touched the stairs,not once,my sister saw it and asked me how I did it and I told her I asked God to beat you just once down the stairs (3 flights) and he herd me I was 8 years old then. Of course, its not really a secret, its right there in the Bible. But somehow Protestants who say their only Authority is the Bible never notice this. There is only one way to “receive the Holy Spirit” and that is in the “laying on of hands” by an apostolic authority - a Catholic (or Orthodox) bishop. This is the Sacrament of Confirmation. Of course, the Holy Spirit dispenses all of God’s graces to all people, but the sacraments are the most powerful graces. And Confirmation is a special “gift of the Holy Spirit”. Here is the Catechism on this sacrament. As for the other thing, yes, please PM me. Don’t confuse what Dan Brown writes about with what Gnosticism teaches or practices.
