Was this a preview of the future for Christ's Church?

In Saturday’s Gospel, Jn 15:18-21, I asked myself, what kind of “excuse” can one come up with for this statement by our Lord?

If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.
If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you.
Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.
This is not some profit,……what kind of remark can one dream up to refute this? Does this explain certain actions that we see in this world of ours?

maybe. but as far as persecution goes, there is really none of it in the U.S., if that is your persp3ective. I think there are places in the world where Christians are being persecuted severely, but not in the U.S.

there is an overall rejection of Christian morality. but in the main the secular world simply ignores Christians.

that could change almost overnight, of course. a day probably will come when Christians will be rounded up and put to death, even in the U.S. things can change very quickly. the pogroms that were enacted against European Jews down thrgough the centuries came on suddenly, and were paroxysms of anger, like during the plagues when Jews were blamed for poisoning wells.

My daughter goes to public school. Believe me, she’s had her share of deliberate anti-Catholic remarks aimed at her. It happens in classrooms while teachers do nothing.

In addition, some of the teachers have misrepresented Catholicism, and when she counters, they just shrug. But in their misrepresentation, when students then say rude things about the Church, the teachers remain silent.

Reading the news, you’ll often find other types of persecution. What’s happening in the schools with her, though, is much worse than when I was a kid. I’m hoping it’s not a trend that’s going to grow.

Check my first sentence. I never compared it to that type of persecutions. I said that Christians aren’t ignored.

Andin the news there is plenty of other types of persecution of Christians, some even in the U.S. And not being physically beaten doesn’t make what’s happening right. These people are spreading hate, which is where it all starts.

You and many others were repeated physically attacked in front of teachers for being a neo druid and nothing was done? Where did this happen? Did your parents do nothing? No newspaper articles? I would like a little more info on that. Those who attacked you certainly weren’t acting in a Christian manner! And that in itself should have been something brought to the attention of their pastors. There is no excuse for vicious behavior.

You can’t refute this since it’s true. People who say that abortion is taking a human life or that any sexual relations other than those between a man and woman married to each other are immoral are going against what our secular society and media accept. Just saying this angers those with other views.

It exactly explains what we see in this world. We live in the princedom of the evil one. This world belongs to evil. Look at Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc and their millions of dead. Thus, we live not for this life, but for the next, in which we have hope of eternity in the perfection of God’s Kingdom.

It should not be us who live, but rather Christ Who lives within us. This world is that of the Pagans, Scribes and Pharisees, who serve themselves and not God. We are called to be in this world, but not of this world.
