I had to do a project for school and procrastinated BIG TIME (well, our whole group did not, just me). The day before it was due I was calling around like crazy trying to get a hold of my group which was not possible, nobody could be reached. The next day I found out one kid had done the whole thing and said we could all take credit for it (which we did). I feel really bad and when I see “You shall not steal”, I can’t help but feel like I stole his work. We were going to make it up to him by giving him a gift card, but then I’d feel like I paid him to do the project for me and that’s not who I am…

Instead of paying him, I would just give him an IOU sort of thing, its basically the same, doing equal amounts of work, just instead of being together on one project, its seperate on two projects.
I don’t think you really committed a sin as you tried calling around and were vigilant in trying to get something done, although to no avail. Just don’t procrastinate next time. 😉

Last I heard, sloth is a sin…We have sins of omission as well as sins of commission. Maybe this applies here. Only you know that…Giving a gift card is probably not the best route, but believe me, thanking him is. Hopefully, whatever grade is assigned will be one worthy of the effort your partner did alone. He deserves a good grade, hopefully, your remorse will teach you the next time that you have a project, don’t procrastinate, you may not have someone so gracious to pick up your slack. Might be worth mentioning to your confessor. He may give you a penance that involves restitution, but that’s up to Him and Him alone.

Be responsible is what we should do - when we are lack of responsibility in our part then it is not what God wants. I would confess that if I were you. Confessing this is to ask God to help us do every little thing to please Him and to follow His Will.

So, huh? Sorry, what should I confess?

Sin of laziness…sin of omission for a duty expected.
Prayers for others are always good.
