Mimicing what others have said, I think that if you merely performed the ablutions as a mark of respect for the Muslim congregants, and did not attach religious significance to it, then I do not think that you did anything wrong. It would be like a woman visiting a mosque and wearing a head covering. She is not covering up because she is a Muslim but because these are the rules of the mosque.
