I told my brother I would only be about 5 more minutes on the computer, but then I started working on a religion video for Youtube, and took considerably longer than 5 minutes. My brother ended up having to go to bed and never went on the computer. I feel bad about this. Did this constitute lying?

2482 “A lie consists in speaking a falsehood with the intention of deceiving.”

Were you intending to deceive…or did it just take longer than you expected…

Dude - you were being selfish. That’s a sin. If you say 5 minutes - mean 5 minutes. The fact that it was a religious effort is not an excuse. That having been said, You are human. God understands and forgives these things Confess and be at peace. L

Anybody who thinks that is a sin is being really scrupulous. Of course that was not a sin unless you specifically deceived your brother. From reading your post it appears you simply took longer than you thought.
NOT a sin!
