Someone told me that before Vatican II, it was a tradition for the priest to read to the couple instead of a homily. I have never heard of this. Can anyone confirm or deny this so-called tradition?
“Traditional” can mean a lot of things. It may have been traditional per…Italians or Irish or simply in your ancestrial family. (remember powerful families would of had ties to monistaries)
Certinally, if it was a widespread tradition it would of survived the change to the OF.
