Rant? You were there? He isn’t a ranter or a moaner, unlike his mother - you’re quite right that I’m rather too good at showing my feelings! But I didn’t encourage him in this particular reaction.

Loathe is a very strong word, and that is where I picked it up. For someone to express loathing, there has to be a little more than just avoiding a liturgy. If I misread what actually took place, I apologize, but your wording caused me to form a different picture. Had you said he “disliked” children’s liturgies, it says something less radical, huh?

Why not? Anything and everything seems to go these days so why not this? Seems kind of mild actually, compared to some of the nonsense I’ve seen over the years.

You know, endless, mindless experimentation and differing types of Masses were the main reasons the Council of Trent codified them into what became known as the Traditional Mass. That fact is often downplayed or forgotten these days, especially by those heavily into innovation and self expression in the Mass.

It all just seems overwhelming at times.
