My brother recently received First Holy Communion. A few days before, he and his class eat some unconsecrated bread and wine. Also, a few years ago I took a speech class, they also used some unconsecrated hosts for an activity. Where these practices alright with what the Magesterium teaches?

Neither of these things is a sin or prohibited by the Church, if that’s what your asking. Unconsecrated bread and wine are just that – bread and wine.

It’s a great idea to let the children practice with the unconsecrated hosts and wine so that they will not be distracted by the taste and texture on their first Communion day.

not only that, i have heard of a priest when he was a child having a pretend mass and using chips. he also had a pretend altar. that is how his vocation to the FSSP was fostered as a child. as long as the child understands it is pretend or that the hosts used for practice are unconsecrated, i see no problem.

Isn’t that what Necco wafers are for? 👍
Hahaha!

I hadn’t seen those at the store for years!
Then just last week, one of the “Dollar” stores had chocolate ones on clearance… (yes, I bought a few…)

That’s perfectly fine! You know, they even give them with play Mass sets.
