To whom it may concern,
I am a brand new Catholic with a very scrupulous conscience. I am having an issue over whether a particular lie I told today was mortal sin or venial sin.
I was having a conversation with a man who asked me if I had seen a certain movie, and embarrassed to admit it, I said no. I quickly corrected myself and said I was dared by my then girlfriend to watch it, (which it was not so much a dare as it was her whining and crying until I watched it with her). I then told him I could not watch it all, which was true, because I did turn my head at some scenes.
Now, is this something worthy of confession before I take communion today? Or is this something really silly, and a waste of time?
Yours truly,
Matt
