In a movie I was watching, there was a scene where there were noises of the people doing impure things. They didn’t show anything until afterward so I left at that time. I kept my thoughts okay and I went back to continue watching the movie. Nothing too bad came up afterward. Was any of this a sin?

No problem. If you were to avoid every sight of every sin, you would have to go to the center of a deep forest and see no one.

Jesus said: “You are in this world but you do not belong to this world!”.

You should try to avoid temptation.

If those sounds were making you have impure thoughts, then I would suggest leaving, turning off the movie, changing the channel, etc.

But if it isn’t giving you impure thoughts or tempting you to sin, then it should probably be fine.

Before you became a Christian, do you believe your thoughts could be sinful?

Probably not.

So, only by being a Christian did you become cognisant of sin and that thoughts can be sinful.

And how is that recognized?

Probably, by way of the Holy Spirit.

So, knowledge of sin is a conviction of the Holy Spirit.

When you thought what you thought, were you convicted?

Probably, which is why you are concerned with the issue.

So, you asked “was any of this a sin.”

Yes.
