Was use of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and Nagasaki a few days later morally justified? I think that given the overwhelming evil of the Japanese government at the time, and the appalling casualty estimates for invading the home islands, justified the bombs on those two occasions. The bombs are certainly regrettable (let us pray for the dead and injured), and may they never be used again, but in the context of ending WWII I think that President Truman was morally justified.
