What does the label say? What is the cassock made of-- does the label tell you % of each material such as linen, cotton, rayon, polyester, etc.?

If there are no instructions, consult the manufacturer’s website.

I have washed many a cassock and alb. Most are made of blended materials that do well in the washer and dryer. If I take it out after the drying cycle and hang it up, it won’t need ironing. But it’s always good to check the label.

If it is machine washable, you can also use a product like Woolite for Darks to help prevent fading. I’ve also heard vinegar helps set dye.

Unless you happen to be the Pope, in which case you would want a product that brightens whites!

Check the label. I know some are dry-clean only.
