Wasn't Jesus a Muslim?

She could, but she can’t be used to forgo what her Son died for - that would be an insult to them both. As John MacArthur once said, you can’t forsake Divine Truth for superfluous peace.

In the Orthodox we call her the Theotokos - the Mother of God. She was called this by the early Church, and it is evident in their writings. Muslims deny Christ is the fullness of God, therefore that title is stripped from her. To me, that’s an insult. 🙂
God bearer. Theotokos.

Yes, I like the Icons of her always with her son. That strikes me as who she really was, why she became holy. Through her Son. That is why I like the icons of her with her son.

Interesting.

Still, can there be hope of peace with this common love?

That depends on what you are speaking of. We are commanded to love even our enemies, but we also commanded to contend for the faith. Do I love Muslims? Yes. Do I love Islam? No. As Fulton Sheen once said, tolerance is for the erring, intolerance for the error.

To me, relating anything to the one and true God is an insult. 🙂

the simple answer is , Jesus was not a Muslim (like a Sunni Muslim, reciting the Arabic Quran and praying in the mosque 5 times a day) but he was a Muslim ( in submitting to the will of God in a complete surrender and peace ,that’s the root meaning of the word “Muslim”)

Wolf, there were many Unitarian Christians in the early centuries of Christianity and people had different beliefs (Ebonites, Arianism, Nestorianism) but many were oppressed and their beliefs were distorted …history is always written by the powerful…so suggesting that Mary was trinitarian is not based on strong evidence.

Birth of Christ-aound 1 AD/CE give or take a few years
Birth of Islam-610 CE

Nope. Doesn’t look like it.
Islam is the Arabic word for “Church”. So, I would insist the words “Holy Spirit”, “Church”, and “Islam” all refer to the Third Person of the Holy Trinity, which is properly called Vatican.

Muhammad’s Islam is FAKE. This is because Muhammad is a false prophet, who raped a 9-year old girl, Aisha. This victim of rape, Aisha resented Muhammad and upon his death (caused by poisoning) betrayed her husband by nominating Abu Bakar instead of Imam Ali (who is Muhammad’s hand picked successor). This caused the Shia-Sunni schism.

The true al Islam is the Church!

Remember, HH Pope Benedict XVI is called a Trinitarian Muslim, as the word “Muslim” means “one who submits to Allah”. In his case, his Allah is a triune Allah, not the Muhammadan Moon God.

CCC itself says that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. I believe this God is the triune Allah (father, son and spirit). A Christian is a follower of Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, while a Muslim as a submitter to the triune Allah. Both words mean the same thing! Ask any Arab Christian, perhaps, Nancy Ajram, who says she is a Trinitarian Muslimah!

But Jesus was Jewish, correct?

For an ex-muslim, you know very little about islam…actually all you know is what various christian preachers and evangelicals say islam is…you were never a muslim.
(or you could have been a shi’ite muslim with distorted views on islam) which one were u? a shi’ite or a christian who is just pretending to have once been a muslim?
(btw, islam means submission and not church)

Assalam Alaikum my brother.

I was indeed a Muslim by birth, and I adhered by the Mazhab Jaafari. I opted for Catholic Church after I read Answering Islam which opened my eyes that the Quran was not of divine origin but actually of human origin. The real authors of the Quran is Caliph Uthman. Many Syriac scholars, including Dr George M Lamsa and Dr Paul D Younan are in the opinion that the Quran is not at all pure Arabic but actually pure Syriac. For example, the Quranic script is Syriac cursive, and the word “Mushirik” does not really mean “polytheist” but refers to Assyrian Christianity (which is today known as Assyrian Church of the East). The city of Makkah was an Assyrian Christian city, and Muhammad was born of Nestorian Christian parents. But his conversion to Monophysitism (called Nasara Jacobites) led him to be persecuted by the Assyrian Quraish tribe, so he made a Hijrah to Medinah.

In the Quran, there is mentioned three types of Christians:
  1. Mushirik - Assyrian Church of the East
  2. Nasara - Coptic Church (and all those in communion with her)
  3. Rum - Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestants
Unfortunately, many translations of the Quran, such as Yusuf Ali mis-translate the above terms.

hmmm so u were a shi’ite.
maybe you should go on answering-christianity and convert back to islam from reading what that site has to say. And no it is well-known that makkah at that time were idol-worshipper and not christian as you claim. It is never good to read a website and a few people’s opinions and convert to a different religion. I know a muslim who became a shi’ite just because he liked what they had to say on one of their sites.

Assalam alaikum my brother.

I am surprised you are hostile to Shia Muslims, who are today leading the world’s Islamic Ummah. For example, since the overthrow of Sunni dictator Saddam Hussein, the new Iraq is a Shia Iraq. So, if we count the number of Islamic States that are Shia-ruled, we will see, Iran (Jaafari), Iraq (Jaafari), Syria (Alawite), Lebanon (Hezbollah), and Azerbaijan.

Anyways, I realise Sunni-Shia schism are like Catholic-Protestant schism. Both sides do not regard each other as the true Islam/Church. This is why we continue to see a Shia-Sunni war in Iraq since according to the doctrine of Takfir, both sides do not regard each other as Muslims but kaafir.

Did you check my link out? (Also check more from that site-it will be worth it if ur sincere).
I wouldn’t go far enough to say that they are kafirs…I would say some are (the more extreme of shi’ites) but the rest? No.
I just don’t agree with the shi’ite view of Abu Bakr (ra) and Umar (ra) and Uthman (ra). As well as the whole Imaminite thing and worshipping graves (not all do it but some do it). And so many more things I just can never agree with…like mutah and taqiyyah.
Alawites are considered kafir by both shi’ite and sunni just so you can know and hezbollah is a terrorist organisation which is trying to look good in front of the muslims by pretending to hate the west. also iran and iraq and both very messed up at the moment. 🙂
Maybe time for a sunni leader in iran?

wasalam

absolutely… and I’ll add beside that ,he was Mu’min (believer in God)

so Jesus was:
Jewish
Muslim
Mu’min
Massiah
**And he (Jesus) was:
1.Kalimat u Allah (the word of God) (3:45)
2. Rahmat u Allah (A mercy from Allah) (19:21)
3. Ayat u Allah ( A sign from Allah). (19:21)
4: Abdullah ( A Servant of Allah) (19:30)
5. Nabi Allah (A prophet of God) (19:30)
6. Rasool Allah ( A messenger of Allah). (61:7)

All of the above titles are from the Quran. Of course Jesus was the promised Messiah for the Jews.**
