Apologies if this is a stupid question…

If at the fall, mankind was ingrained with this sense of shame for their nakedness, why are there still tribes of people throughout the world (excluding crazy people like naturalists,) who live their lives dressed pretty close to naked without any shame at all?

It all depends on what shame is, note in the following they made themselves aprons before they hid from the Presence of God, manifested by hearing the voice of the Lord God. Therefore they where well aware that it is their hearts that God sees.

Gen:3:
6: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7: And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8: And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Samoana remember that the book of Genesis is not an exact historical account of how all life began. The inspired author used a very figurative way of narrating a good story that tells us a message. Thus the message of the story is more important than the details described. And some of the primary messages is that God created everything; that everything God created is good; that man was gifted with a “Divine” image since humans are the only created beings with Reason and Free will; that humankind fell from grace, sinned and therefore are in need of being redeemed.

The passage about man being made conscious of nakedness may mean that man realized his/her shame due to the guilt of sin. We can’t literally interpret this as Man realizing that to be naked is shameful.

Who is the inspired author, and what was he inspired by? Are you saying one shouldn’t believe what is written in Scripture?
