Would it be a sin to waste resources like wasting paper or allowing the water to run for too long? Or would it be a sin to only destroy the environment like causing a forest to burn or throwing trash all over plants?

Thank you

In and of itself it’s only a bad habit, but it can easily become sinful if it does harm to oneself or others. It probably comes under the heading of “negligence” more than anything else (perhaps with some overlap with greed/gluttony).

In general, we are stewards of God responsible for everything he gives to us.
Therefore we should not waste anything if possible and reasonable.
Jesus after the miracle of loaves and fishes said to gather up all that was left over
because nothing should be wasted.

Thank you for replying. I have had thoughts about this for a little while.🙂

Have you been lately to a buffie lately and at all the food wasted? Abortion is not the
only problem although the biggest, wasting babies.

What does it mean “to waste” really? When considering everything in existence, all is just recycled through the same systems. Any water going down the drain will eventually evaporate and reform into clouds which will condense, and any food or trash that is thrown out will break down into simple compounds that will be used by living things, such as plants and animals, to make their existence possible. Is there any moral transgression in wasting resources? No. But you should take into consideration whether you would be wasting money you have spent by throwing away things you’ve paid for if you can still use them.
