absolutely you can ask! i go out on a sunday, or any day to houses, bus stops, i’ve even had conversations in the parking lot. people know iam a catholic right off by my rosary, or they see my scapular and we talk from there. its light hearted conversation at first, then we start talking about faith, and how Jesus is God and it goes from there. i have not experienced any negativity. questions yes, but negative attitude? no.
Thank you:thumbsup: I dont know what a scapular is. Do you carry the rosary in your hand? When you start talking to people do they tell you right off the bat what they believe or were raised believing?
Thanks:thumbsup: Ive never gone up to a complete stranger and just started preaching. Although I do talk to people at my gym all the time. But they are not total strangers.:o
I dont have it in me to go door to door.:o Not my forte. Im one of those people that likes to have a relationship with people first before I delve into deep theological discussions.:o

I had a Catholic Priest stop by my house to pay a visit. Tim
Oh my gosh!! I would love a priest to just stop by my house one day:D He would be sorry though because I would probably exhaust him with questions.:o We have a CC at the end of my road but they keep to themselves.😦 The priest there is actually not too friendly and barely smiles. I cant see him ever going door to door:( I dont think he has the personality for it.😦

My family wasn’t practicing at the time. When I was younger , Friars of the Atonement lived in a house down the road from me. Fr. Bill and Fr. Dennis used to watch me. I still remember thier faces. One of the younger friars frowned at me once, but I was a handful.:o Tim

a scapular is a piece of cloth with a catholic image on it, like the one of mount carmel that was given to saint simon stock as a sign of salvation in 1251, on the back it says, whosoever dies clothed in this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire. that was the scapular promise from our lady of mount carmel. i do carry the rosary in my hand or in my purse when iam out in public at times i leave it at home. i don’t carry it all the time. i don’t go strangers all the time, but i have alot of people who are truly curious about my scapular. especially nurses at the hospital. then a great conversation starts from that. sometimes, i will wear my religious medals on my clothing, and a conversation starts from there. or i will read my books in public like on the bus, and one can go from there.

its funny how conversations start. people do eye my scapular quite a bit as i have a cord of saint philomena tied on it. too small to wear on my waist, so it is tied in a neat bow on my scapular.

In my experience, I have only been approached by JW’s and Mormons.

Never by anyone else.
Hi BibleSteve -

Check out this website…legionofmary.org/lom.html

The Legion of Mary is a door-to-door evangelization ministry made up of lay Catholics. Many have never heard of it…until now, of course! 😃

There is a chapter at my parish and I have been asked to join.

We’ll see…

Subrosa

I’m curious, how many people here have had a Catholic approach them at their door or in the informal ministry?

And then, how many people have been approached be one of JW’s?

How many people can say they’ve never been approached by one of JW’s?
The Mormons have a large number of sincere and dedicated missionaries spreading their teachings. That does not make their gospel any less false.

It’s quality, not quantity. 🙂

God Bless,
Michael

I think it’s wondeful to see people go out and talk with others about their faith.

In a typical month, 6.5 to 7.0 million JW’s are out there doing that.

I think that if TraditionalCath is one of the few Catholics doing that, it’s great.

I’d encourage more people to try it. It would likely be an eye-opening and humbling experience.
for JW is not that humbling
they have to do it or they will be label as inactive, they need to clock in like a job and they have to have certain amount of hours.
Other Christians do it because Jesus said to do it
