I’ve also seen this video posted on Twitter and elsewhere. What I don’t know…is the priest alright? It looks like ran away from the falling ceiling but does anyone know? Any major injuries of anyone in attendance? Thanks!
 
Btw, have to add that when the power went out, he didn’t even flinch! They are so used to erratic electric power and outages and it’s so normal that it didn’t clue anyone that an explosion was about to happen. Poor Lebanon…a country that should be a paradise in the ME and instead is about to totally collapse due to corruption, Covid and sectarian violence. Now, an explosion ruins half of Beirut!
 
Thank you! I assumed if he had been severely injured or killed it would have been mentioned but I was hoping it was true that he is ok. I believe the death count is over 100 now and the military is not letting anyone search for survivors in the area. That may be for their safety but international organizations are arriving and hopefully they will be allowed in!

I believe more big demonstrations and citizen groups doing clean up are planned for tomorrow (tonight for us in the US). With the military in charge, clashes will easily occur. I’d hope not but the demonstrations have been getting more violent lately as Hezbollah sends in their supporters! The people are demanding that the top leaders resign. They are doing nothing but deflecting blame. New leadership is sorely needed.
 
Thank God the priest is all right. He was pretty hardcore to keep right on going with no interruption after the shockwave hit.
Prayers for him and his congregation, and all affected.
 
Just absolutely devastating.

So, it turns out that if you confiscate tons of highly explosive material at a port you should get rid of it and not store it beside a fireworks factory. :roll_eyes:

I hope this causes ports and other places to see if they have similar situations that need remediation.

Bride and husband are okay; she is in a follow-up video the next day thanking God that they are both alive.
