Hi everyone, I just had a question regarding watching Mass on the internet/TV.

All of the Masses in my area has been cancelled until April. (Maybe longer) due to COVID-19 outbreak. So I watch it on my phone.

My diocese live-streams mass on their website, but I was wondering if it would “count” if I watched a mass from a different diocese. Really for no good reason at all, just for a change.

Also do I need to Sit/Stand like we do in church? Sometimes I don’t know when to do either when I’m live streaming it. (He doesn’t say please stand/sit on the live-streams)

Thanks in advance for the replies!

“Count” for what?

If public masses have been cancelled, there isn’t a Sunday obligation, so it’s not like you have to watch streamed Mass in order to fulfill an obligation. And even if the obligation perdured, you still wouldn’t fulfill it by watching a stream.

It’s a nice thing to do, but you don’t have to. Watch Mass, don’t watch Mass, whatever you’d like. Whatever is helpful for you.

Oh, I thought it was sort of an obligation still.

So if the obligation isn’t in effect right now, then I can assume it doesn’t matter wether I watch mass from my local area, or halfway across the world then.

Thanks for the reply, God Bless. And stay healthy.
