Since Masses are cancelled by me, this past Sunday, we watched the Live stream of the EWTN Mass with the family, and my husband and I also watched the Live Stream of the Mass with Ascension Presents.

I know there are other Masses online that are pre-recorded and posted to watch upon demand.

For a Sunday devotion, since Mass is not available locally, is it better, the same, or not better, to watch a Live stream Mass vs. a pre-recorded watch on demand Mass? Please explain why.

Depends on when I wake up. I usually go to Mass in the afternoon, and most live-stream Masses are in the morning. I don’t think it matters, in the long run. I think what matters is that you are watching it.

As a personal devotion, I try to watch the live stream Mass my parish transmits. It helps me to better get in the “spirit” to make a spiritual communion seeing the same sights and hearing the same voices I’m accustomed to on a regular Sunday morning.

During this shutdown, I prefer to watch a live Mass if at all possible. It is more like “being at Mass” and I also receive the priest’s blessing, which as I understand it can only be conveyed live.

I prefer live Masses as well. My parish livestreams feast day Masses on Facebook, and I find it very comforting to see how many others are watching; it gives a sense of community and being united in prayer.
