Watching movies with nudity with another person

Is it wrong to pick out a certain movie to watch with a friend if I know that it has a scene with nudity and my friend would be tempted to, or likely to sin.

I know that I can look away or concentrate on something else on the screen so I am not tempted, but I can’t do that for the other person

Specifically, I want to buy a movie with nudity. If I buy it, I know that my brother will want to watch it with me. My brother is 23 years old, but I still think he might be seriously tempted to sin. In the end, I do not what is going on in his mind during a sex scene, so I don’t know if what he’s doing is a sin.

PeteDuHut, Why would any, even half Catholic person, want to support the Movie Industry of today and the poison they put out. Much less show you own bother a “How to Sin Guide”.

Every dollar you give these sicko’s in Hollywood they take that and turn it to more poison for you and your family and everyone else’s. When you give them your money you are voting with your dollar bill, saying yes, I will give you my money to show me nudity and sex acts, yes I will give you money to show human beings being shot or sliced and diced before my very eyes or what ever. While this may be true most of the time, this is not absolute. First, the nude scene(s) may not include any women, and second, not all nudity is sexually exploitative. A classic example is Franco Zeffirelli’s Brother Sun, Sister Moon. This movie is the story of Saint Francis of Assisi and shows the scene where Pietro Bernadone drags his son before the bishop. Here Francis renounced all his father’s property, even stripping off the clothes he was wearing.

To the OP, I think that you have answered your own question. If you knew that your brother had too much to drink, would you give him his keys back to drive home? If he were an alcoholic, would you give him a beer?

I am the exact opposite. If you see violence in a movie, it doesn’t tempt you to sin by watching it. It doesn’t usually depict violence as a good thing either. Murder is what the bad guy does.

What about situations where my brother or friends wants to rent or go see a certain movie that probably has one of those scenes. I know they wouldn’t understand if I tried to explain to them why they shouldn’t watch it? If I know I can watch it without sin, is it okay to watch it with them?

I wonder what the proportion of movie sex scenes involving married characters on-screen vs. those not married would be? My guess is that sex scenes involving fornication greatly outnumber those that show on-screen married couples.

So that’s one objection.

A second, perhaps, would be gratuitous scenes, again, I’d guess would greatly outnumber those such scenes that would be essential to the plot.

Third, the graphic nature of the scenes. Personally, I’d rather see a movie where sex is suggested i.e. two people heading off to the bedroom than wasting 5 or ten minutes of screen time showing what you already know what’s going on. This is more of a personal peeve, where the director thinks the audience is to dumb to figure out what happens next and feels that he has to show it.

Fourth, sex scenes are objectionable if they could reasonable lead a veiwer into an occasion of sin, and it’s not to hard to imagine how.

I have often wondered what the point of having sex scenes in a movie when they could just suggest it.

The only reasons I can see at face value is the director wants to perv, or they think more people will watch the movie if there are sex scenes in it.

Btw Pete, I dont know how you could be comfortable watching a sex scene with your brother, I would feel very awkward.
