I dont think i have ever drank water during mass.
Neither have I. And when we went to church as kids my parents didn’t have snack for us. Neither did I with my kids. As infants they’d nurse if they needed it, though I usually nursed them just before leaving home so that didn’t occur often, but once past that stage they ate and went to the bathroom before we left the house and they, surprise!, didn’t starve or die of thirst in the 90 minutes we were away.

Frequently cantors/musicians in my church will make sure to have water available to them during the Mass. I’ve done it rarely because cool/cold water will tend to make me choke if I take a sip before singing…it messes up my natural lubrication. If I am sick I may sip hot water - I consider it a physical necessity in order to fulfill the obligations of my ministry during Mass.

Yes you can and the priest also allows me to eat snacks and to drink juice and regular soft drinks because I am a type1 diabetic and sometimes my blood sugar goes low.
Which of course for you is “medicine” as it is necessary to stabilize your condition.

When I attend Mass I never have water, but when I sing in the choir I always have water with me as often my mouth can get very dry.

Hi there. I also sing in church choirs. I, too, avoid cold water. I find that being careful with what I eat to really help with my voice: avoiding chocolate, cookies, dairy. I learned from a vocalist that potato chips- not diet- are very good for the voice as the oil lubricates the vocal chords, the salt does something good ( don’t recall what) and I’ve found this to really work. I also favor olive oil and vinegar salad dressing for this and other reasons. I’m almost always the only person in my choir not reaching for water or lozenges during Mass.

God bless you and your music ministry.🙂
