In the revisions and recreation of new prayers for Novus Ordo we lost most of what could be characterized as “negative” concepts: sin, guilt, penance, propitiation, etc. But these are vital nutrients for Catholics. Grown up Catholics, that is. Catholics who understand that we are sinners, and that one day we are going to die and meet our Maker, who is our Savior and our Judge. When we deal with very young children we don’t drum on about the Four Last Things. They shouldn’t be ignorant of them, but we shouldn’t stress them, either. Let children be children. But we must not infantilize adults by denying them the sustenance of TRUTH. “Goo goo ga ga” is not enough for adults. To preach “goo goo” to them is precisely the opposite of charity, which seeks to serve the good of others.

Pope: A good Christian spreads hope – not bitterness

Vatican City, May 31, 2017 / 05:54 am (CNA/EWTN News).- On Wednesday Pope Francis said the Holy Spirit has the power to fill us with the hope of Christ, in turn making us Christians vessels that bring hope to others, rather than bitterness or desperation.

“The Holy Spirit makes us not only able to hope, but also to be sowers of hope, that we too are, like him and thanks to him – the “paraclete” – consolers and defenders of our brothers, sowers of hope,” Pope Francis said May 31.

“A Christian can sow bitterness, can sow perplexity, and this is not Christian,” he said, adding: “whoever does this is not a good Christian. Sow hope: sow the oil of hope, sow the fragrance of hope, and not the vinegar of bitterness and hopelessness.”

Pope Francis must be an irritation for Fr Z. 😃

He does not go into what “most” means. In the Ordinary Form are “sins”, “forgive us”, “make us worthy”, “the forgiveness of sins”, “I am not worthy” :

Penitential Act:
  • Brethren (brothers and sisters) let us acknowledge our sins …
  • I confess to almighty God …
  • May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins …
OR

Blessing and Sprinkling:
  • Dear brothers and sisters, let us humbly beseech the Lord our God to bless this water he has created, which will be sprinkled on us as a memorial of our baptism.
  • May almighty God cleanse us from our sins, and through the celebration of this Eucharist make us worthy to share at the table of his kingdom. Amen.
Creed (most Sundays and Solemnities):
  • … I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins …
    OR
  • I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins.
AND
  • Take this, all of you, and drink from it: for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant; which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
The Communion Rite:
  • Lord, I am not worthy …

Don’t know but he sure gets you liberals hoppin’ lol.

I can see you getting a lot of flack for this, but ill just let you know that I agree with Fr. Z here as I’m sure you do.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; [nor liberal or conservative] for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28
Christians who place people into ideological groups will not recognize Jesus at his 2nd coming.
