No. most dont want to hear the Truth. they are afraid to know the Truth. that is different. they refuse to hear. that is exactly what happened to the Pharisees. they just refused to hear. refusal to hear is no excuse.

i just had a discussion with a friend who is a Presbyterian. she is the one who wants to call the shots. she refuses to hear anything about the CC. she regards the Church is just another denomination with no authority whatsoever. she tells me what i should say and what i should not say. something is wrong here. something is happening, somehow the CC is letting people believing in something that is not true. there is confusion now and days what the CC is indeed. as long this goes on more people will be lead ashtray without even thinking that it is supposed to be One Church and not many.

Peace.
She sounds like a typical Presbyterian to me 😉 But what she is telling you is the true blight of protestantism. Once they were able to wrest any spiritual authority away from the pope and bishops, then you are left with a church that has not authority. So, what to do about the church? Well, you make it ‘invisible’. That is how prots got around it. And that is how they explain away all the denominations. For them, it doesn’t matter. They belong to an invisible church.

The CC is not letting people believe in something that is not true. Her teachings are right out there in front of everybody to see. It’s unfortunate that there are so many like your friend whose tunnel vision and ignorance dictate their spiritual condition. I wish her well.

That the Catholic Church and Lutherans have an asymmetrical opinion of each other’s Eucharist - that we believe that yours is as valid as ours, but you see yours as valid but ours as not - is one of the sad divisions we have. While we hope and pray that one day you will see the real presence of Christ which is truly in our Eucharist, that’s not to say we need you to for it to be so.
I am not particularly offended, much less moved, that you don’t. After all, you are professing the teachings of your communion, and I would not expect or encourage you to do otherwise. Nonetheless, I will continue to recognize not only the Holy Spirit in you and the Catholic Church, but also His real presence in your Eucharist. and may you be blessed by it.

Jon

BTW, I see your Salsa, and offer you one USCCB document. 😃
usccb.org/seia/koinonia.shtml
The holy father has said it and i agree about the Eucharist.
the CC is not divided. the Church is intact. just because so and so decided to leave and form their own religion and have followers doesnt turn the CC into pieces. this believe has to stop.
God did not found Protestants religion man did. if you follow them knowingly, you are guilt of it. you know the CC yet you refuse to surrend. you know God found one Church and not many.

one thing i say, we have to becarefull what we read now and days. we have Catholics dissents and organizations saying all kinds of untrue things undermining the True teachings of the CC.

Peace.

yes, i agree. but we cannot deny the fact that there are many teachings out there by all kinds of people almost as if in support of the Protestant religion. we must be aware of what is really going on. things that are out there purposedly to undermine the CC. i bet you that many people see the CC as just another denomination. i wonder why?

Peace.

And peace also with you.

You can’t be saying that the USCCB is saying "all kinds of untrue things undermining the True teachings of the CC. Are you? This is a document approved by the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops! This isn’t SSPX, or something.

I think people are misenterpreting things and there is why there is so much confusion surroundings Catholics now and days.

Hello there. I reject many Catholic ideals. I reject many Protestant ideals. I have no dogma. I do not belong to any denomination.

Some may call me a Christian; some may call me a neopagan; some may call me an atheist. I do not care, but I do believe that Jesus was divinely inspired. Whether this was because of God’s nature or God’s will, I do not know, and neither do you. I believe Jesus is an important step to being a better person.

Most here are Catholic, and yet they belong to the same Church as the Protestants. As the Anabaptists. As the Anglicans. Stop the nonsense. Stop the fighting. We are all part of the Universal Church, are we not?

Even if your neighbor does not believe in Jesus, is he not a creation of God? All believe they are created by God. Some say they have been created by a Greek god, some a Hindu god, some the Abrahamic god, some by nature. I don’t think it matters much what we call God, He is the goodness in the world. What would He care?

So when you look at another being, no matter who they are, think to yourself: they have been created by God. They are here for a reason. Don’t be angry with them, don’t fight with them, whether it’s because of religion, or politics, or money.

It is understandable that you are angry at times; anger is something that God gave us. But do not fight unless you have to. Do not think you have to until you are absolutely sure. Remember that no matter what happens, God will prevail, whether you call Him God, or Thor, or Brahma, or Allah.

When you fight with others, are you not turning your back on God? After all, He is the goodness of the world.
very nice politically correct ideal. but sorry. im not going to go along to get along. there is a reason some are Catholic and others are not. as a convert from protestantism, i will not give up the Eucharist, the Pope, the Immaculate Conception. the Perpetual virginity of the Blessed Mother. etc etc. to many things divide. these are the things my protestant friends would have me give up to come into full fellowship with them. unfortunatly, i do not want full fellowship with them. i can have a meal with them. go bowling etc. but when it comes to matters of faith and spirituality, as much as i agree with the previous brother about eating at the same table, they will have to eventually reunite themselves with rome. its already happening with the anglicans and the orthodox. so hopefully the other protestants will eventually be reunited to us as well. God bless you and yours.

hi. that a nice touchy feely politically correct new agey view. but unfortunatly i cannot go along to get along. as much as i agree with my lutheran friend on another post about wanting to eat at the same table, we cannot at this point do so. i for one am not going to give up the real presence. i for one am not going to give up the authority of the Pope. i for one am not going to give up the role the Blessed Mother plays in the Church. etc etc etc. as a former protestant, i have no desire to go back. they are welcome to join us. but none of us can come to the Catholic Church on our own terms. sorry. i couldnt, and they cant. either accept what the Church teaches or dont. just please dont expect me to reject what the apostles handed down just to get along. it wont happen. 🤷

Sigh. No but your Truth may not be where another brother or sister is on their path. And visa versa. Sadly Christianity, of which Catholicism is a part of, is split. Catholics may blame the Reformation. Protestants may say reform was/is necessary due to human failings in the Church which in turn needed/need corrected. God speaks to each of us and I trust we each do the best we can to interpret what He is telling us. The problem exists when one person thinks they have the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth while the truth truly is none of us truly KNOW. That’s why we call this thing FAITH.

Now it’s fine to want to spread our faith. But we should do so in the most compassionate, inclusive, loving manner humanly possible. With the understanding we each are merely striving toward the same goal. Eternity with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Now I confess I am human and I fail at this myself sometimes. But Tweetymom said it best. We need to think carefully how we choose our words. Case in point. A pet peeve of mine is when the more conservative, “purist” Catholics in today’s Church tell other Catholics that they are not Catholic. That’s not even within doctrine. And the Church changes. Albeit slowly, too slowly for me sometimes. But it changes. What you may be so strongly advocating today may be out the window tomorrow. I can site numerous changes in the Church since it’s beginning. Golly even the first Pope Peter was married! And I can remember when Catholics couldn’t eat meat on ANY Fri. Now it’s just any Fri of Lent. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Anyways a most blessed and healthy new year to all. Grant us peace.
:rolleyes:ok got it, you dont like conservatives. actually ive become somewhat more liberal since i joined the Catholic Church. still right of center on most issues but…

Thanks for that for you are right. UNITY on his Apostolic Churchs terms!
It is about a lot more than just ME and Jesus. Carlan

thank you. also i am a member of the united state army, we have the seven army values. loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, personal courage. or ldrship for short. all these things draw us together no matter what our backgrounds. just imagine if we decided to do our own thing, and started to think it was just about us. you wouldnt have an army. you would have a mob. there has to be something to draw us together to keep us moving forward. there has to be a truth. if all there is, is how “I” feel, well, defeat is just around the corner. i couldnt join the armed forces on my terms either.lol!👍

Great analogy Bendicit, and thank you so much for your service, God bless you all and keep you safe.👍:)Carlan

yes, like when he cursed the fig tree, then proceeded to cleanse the temple with a whip! so much for the passive mooshy messiah, that the new age types would have us believe in…😉

IMHO, all Christians ARE of one faith. That faith is in Christ.
We are not all of one creed (and never have been). We have not agreed on exactly what corpus of beliefs must be accepted as such (not more, not less) - unless The Nicene Creed is that, we have a “status” disagreement.
Does that not matter?

Probably, on some level. But that’s not the question. I believe Christians ARE of one faith - it’s faith in Christ. We aren’t all of one doctrine (never have been), we don’t ALL identifcally articulate every issue of faith and practice in exactly the same way. In fact, personally, I’ve never known two Catholics to do this - much less all 1.1 billion of them, and that’s just in one denomination.
Josiah said:
And the world’s current 2.1 billion Christians (and of course the 4 billion or so brothers and sisters now in heaven) are not in full agreement on every issue of doctrine or ethics - and we never have been. So there is a disagreement on these issues.
As you know Jesus’ established church was one and in full agreement (even in light of many heretical movements) - for 1500 years (the great schism notwithstanding, which gave way to 2 churches).

Well, one church with one faith - yes. But Jesus never founded any denomination.

Yes, ALL denominations are in full, current, official agreement with itself. Some are also in such agreement with other denominations (usually within the same tradition), some (like The Catholic Church) are not and have a unity of one with only one: self.

Of course, The Catholic Church constantly adds to the corpus of dogmas it (alone) insists must be agreed upon. Surely, you don’t think The Catholic Catechism in 31 AD had the same 800 pages in it as my 1994 edition, lol! It declared a dogma within the lifetime of many here at this website, and many think it will do it again within our lifetimes. It continuously keeps moving the goal posts, if you will. It may be that in 325 AD, what we NEEDED to agree on was stated in the Nicene Creed. But The Catholic Church has expaned the corpus to hundreds of times that - and it’s still growing.
It wasn’t until the reformation that men decided to leave the CC and start their own churches.
Maybe you’ve forgotten about 451 and 1054?

And maybe you didn’t know that Luther was excommunicated; if you have a problem with the RCC spliting several times, you really need to take that up with the various popes that did that.

Jude 3
**Beloved, although I was making every effort to write to you about our common salvation, **3 I now feel a need to write to encourage you to contend for the faith that was once for all handed down to the holy ones.
4
For there have been some intruders, who long ago were designated for this condemnation, godless persons, **who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and who deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. **
5
I wish to remind you, although you know all things, that (the) **Lord who once saved a people from the land of Egypt later destroyed those who did not believe. 4 **6
**The angels too, who did not keep to their own domain but deserted their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains, in gloom, for the judgment of the great day. 5 **
7
Likewise, Sodom, Gomorrah, and the surrounding towns, which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexual promiscuity and practiced unnatural vice, 6 serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
10
**But these people revile what they do not understand **11 Enoch, of the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied also about them when he said, “Behold, the Lord has come with his countless holy ones
15
to execute judgment on all and to convict everyone for all the godless deeds that they committed and for all the harsh words godless sinners have uttered against him.”
17
**But you, beloved, remember the words spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, **
18
for they told you, “In (the) last time there will be scoffers who will live according to their own godless desires.” 12
19
**These are the ones who cause divisions; they live on the natural plane, devoid of the Spirit. **
20
**But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith; pray in the holy Spirit. **
21
**Keep yourselves in the love of God and wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. **
23
save others by snatching them out of the fire; on others have mercy with fear, 14 abhorring even the outer garment stained by the flesh.
24
15 To the one who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you unblemished and exultant, in the presence of his glory,
25
to the only God, our savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord be glory, majesty, power, and authority from ages past, now, and for ages to come. Amen.

Hebrews 10:35
Therefore, do not throw away your confidence; it will have great recompense.
36
You need endurance to do the will of God and receive what he has promised.
38
**But my just one shall live by faith, and if he draws back I take no pleasure in him." **
39
**We are not among those who draw back and perish, but among those who have faith and will possess life. **

Hebrews 12:26
**His voice shook the earth at that time, but now he has promised, “I will once more shake not only earth but heaven.” **
27
That phrase, “once more,” points to (the) removal of shaken, created things, so that what is unshaken may remain.
28
**Therefore, we who are receiving the unshakable kingdom should have gratitude, with which we should offer worship pleasing to God in reverence and awe.
29
For our God is a consuming fire. **

Romans 1:18
12 The wrath 13 of God 14 is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickedness of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness.
19
For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them.
20
**Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; **
