And frankly, if you two are having sex a few times a months after 7 years of marriage, you are doing a lot better than many other married couples! Don’t compare it to how it was in the beginning; marriage is an evolutionary process.
Completely agree with Caroline here; marriages can often start out with lots of lovemaking because it’s new and exciting for a couple who has waited to be intimate. Just because that tapers off some as marriage goes on, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Couples get busier from having children, jobs, more responsibilities, etc. They need to keep intimacy a priority though and not let it fall by the wayside.

My husband and I have been together for 5 years. Not quite as long as you and your husband…but close.

We used to have relations very frequently. Every other day was normal for us. But time went on and life kinda got in the way.

We now have relations about once a week…if we are lucky maybe twice a week. I’m in agreement with most other posters. Things started changing. My husband was laid off and then got a new job with tougher hours to handle. We have a 14 month old and a house…so it’s tough for me to keep up with laundry, house cleaning and cooking while watching my daughter.

When we lived in a small apartment…cleaning was a snap and it took no time for me to keep everything spotless and still have energy to go out and have fun with my husband after.

Plus…I think my sex drive is similar to yours. It’s higher then my husband’s and he is perfectly content with sex once a week.

We try to show love to each other in other ways. I make him lunches so he doesn’t have to in the morning. I make sure he has clean laundry for work and he has ample time and enough hot water to take those long hot showers he loves so much.

He will do little chores around the house without asking me. I might go down for a nap or head out to adoration and wake up or come home to neatly folded laundry, a cleaned bathroom and an empty dishwasher.

Dear Convert in 99:

It is possible that your husband made the common mistake of interpreting his feelings of attraction for you as love. Attraction is an emotional force we can feel, but which fades over time. However, love is a set of 4 promises - which is permanent.

Perhaps you can direct him to the details at Attraction is a Feeling. Love is a Promise.
