Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we continue to read and prayerfully listen with the ears of our hearts to St. Louis De Montfort as he continues to explain his treatise on “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin” and the Total Consecration of ourselves to Jesus through Mary.
  1. (2) It follows then that anyone who in this way consecrates and sacrifices himself voluntarily to Jesus through Mary may no longer dispose of the value of any of his good actions. All his sufferings, all his thoughts, words, and deeds belong to Mary. She can then dispose of them in accordance with the will of her Son and for His greater glory. This dependence, however, is without detriment to the duties of a person’s present and future state of life. One such duty, for example, would be that of a priest who, by virtue of his office or otherwise, must apply the satisfactory or prayer value of the Holy Mass to a particular person. For this consecration can only be made in accordance with the order established by God and in keeping with the duties of one’s state of life.
  2. (3) It follows that we consecrate ourselves at one and the same time to Mary and to Jesus. We give ourselves to Mary because Jesus chose her as the perfect means to unite Himself to us and unite us to Him. We give ourselves to Jesus because He is our last end. Since He is our Redeemer and our God we are indebted to Him for all that we are.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful; kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. Jesus and The Father sent You, Holy Spirit, to bring the Church into All Truth. You are the Word made Flesh in the womb of Mary, by the power of the Holy Spirit. You came to us the first time through Mary in hiddenness and humility. You continue to come to us through her until the end of time when you will come again through her in Glory!

“O Jesus, living in Mary, come and live in Your servants, in the spirit of Your holiness, in the fullness of Your power, in the perfection of Your ways, in the truth of Your virtues, in the communion of Your mysteries. Rule over every adverse power, in Your Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen.” – Prayer of Fr. Jean Jacques Olier, S.S. (1608-1657)

May we all praise Mary and give ourselves completely to her who is our perfect Mother. May we all continue to develop a sense of her greatness and mercy, so that we may understand the Infinite Goodness of Jesus Christ, who gave her to us as our Mediatrix.

Here is another beautiful “psalm” from St. Bonaventure’s wonderful “Psalter of the Blessed Virgin Mary”:
Praise the Lady, for a psalm is good: let the praise of her be pleasant and beautiful.
For she heals the broken-hearted
: and she refreshes them with the ointment of piety.
Great is her power: and her clemency has no end.
Sing to her in jubilation: and in her praise sing a psalm to her.
67
Those who hope in the Lord are a good pleasure to her: and those who hope in her
mercy
.
Glory be to the Father, etc.

Dear patricius,

Thanks again for your “heart” and for your reply. Yes, how St. Bonaventure and all the saints, including St. Francis of Assisi praised our Lady and continue to do so – for God has so filled her with Himself!

Jesus asked His disciples in Mark 8:18, if their hearts were hardened and then said:
"Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear? "
I wonder if He is saying the same words to those who have “seen” not with the eyes of their hearts or “heard” with the ears of their hearts what Jesus said from His Cross:
“Behold your Mother”
Please let us pray for one another, with Mary and all the Saints, for the Church and for all those in most need of God’s Mercy.
