you are pulling her out of school because of these issues

the previous poster has said wait till you have some serious issues

what are you going to do when issues arise in the classroom at home? how you going to handle her ideas because you can’t just squash them if you want to raise a healthy child. If she argues back with you on other points how you going to progress if all you do is pull her out at every little challenge? She needs to learn how to deal with challenges and pulling her out at your challenge, not her challenge by the way isn’t helping your child very much. But I dare say you will do what you want rather than what the child may want and need when it comes to the child.

You came here to post what do you say and yet you want to educate her at home. If you are ready to educate her at home you wouldn’t have needed to post a basic question here because you will if you are teaching her in a healthy way will have a lot more challenges to face than, “it differen there mamma” are you really honestly ready to teach her at home? And seeing thatt she learns how to intergrate with others and mix and learning how to handle challenges that goes along with being with others. You don’t want to bring up a shadow of yourself do you in that she won’t dare to challenge anything you say in time becasue she will learn that is the peaceful way forward if she is to hold her own opinions. I hope you wake up to the enormity of pulling her out of school just because it different there. It is different everywhere. You soon stop her going to confession because the priest is different there to what you think may be wrong may be??? just think about you’re action and how this may impact on your child at the worst. Let her have her differences. they will not hurt her but do her good.

Homeschooling is not the best option either, it causes kids to have social problems later on, if it is not done properly.
“Social problems”?

I went to a public high school in the 'burbs and we had our share of kids that could be described as “awkward”, “unusual” or having “social problems” . You will find people that have “social problems” in every walk of life and from every kind of educational background. So, bottom line, if someone is going to have “social problems”, they are going to have “social problems” regardless if they attended an affluent private school, an urban public school, a suburban charter school, a rural Catholic school, or Hogwarts for that matter. Homeschooling has nothing to do with it.

As far as your definition of “done properly” …for those of us that homeschool, we know that “done properly” is what works for our family and more specifically, what works for each individual child that we homeschool. As far as the “best option”, again, for those of us with children, we know that the “best option” is what works best for our families and our children.

So it’s happened. Our 3 year DD has finally noticed that what we do at home isn’t the same as what she does at school (secular private Montessori school). We’ve been working on getting her to cross herself before we eat. Last night I remind her before she eats her Macaroni and Cheese and she tells me “we don’t do that at school.”

The plan is for me to stop working and homeschooling although I’m not sure when that will happen.

I had no idea what to say to DD. What do you tell your kids when they realize there is a conflict between what is done in their Catholic home and what is done in a secular (public or private) school?

This being a Montessori school, they have a little song they sing before they eat that ends with “thank you for our food.” Of course there’s no reference to who they are thanking.
Just have her say the prayer you use at home before she eats. You can simply call the school and let her teacher know that your daughter will be saying a quick prayer prior to eating her lunch and that includes crossing herself. I can’t imagine that there would be any problems with that.

What I was told as a child was: “Well we do that here. Now let’s say Grace”.

Regardless of whether you school your children in the home or out, there will come a day when they have to function outside the home and interact with the rest of the world. There doesn’t have to a big serious conflict. I was always told: You’re Catholic. Outside the door is a secular world who may or may not share your beliefs. That doesn’t have anything to do with changing what you do 🙂
👍👍

So your daughter noticed that school and home actions are different are you’re pulling her out of school? Wait until you start having real issues…
The OP actually never said they are pulling their DD out of Montessori school at this point. Re-read her post and show me where she said that. She did say that the ultimate plan is for their daughter to be homeschooled, but did not say that this incident will cause them to pull the child out of preschool.
