Our pastor for the past 16 years retired at the end of Oct. We have a new pasror and I am thrilled with him!! I liked our old pastor but it seemed like in the last few years he had lost that “spark”. He was burned out I think and just ready to retire. Our new priest is 45 and full of the Holy Spirit. He is excited to be with us at our parish and has big plans for us. Our old pastor was a good man, but things were stale and status quo for a long time.

At my parish we have confession on Sat for 1/2 hour. Last week Father gave a homily on the importance of Confession. He also let it be known he does not do face to face confession and is bringing back the use of the confessional boxes! He added extra confession times to this past Friday (6p-8p) using the confessionals. He also added increased the time of confession this Sat to 2 hours.

My family went Mass Sat night for today and I almost cried when I walked into the Church. The Tabernacle had ben moved back to the alter!! What a beautiful thing to see. I had tears in my eyes as I whispered to my husband and son , as they hadn’t noticed.

He dedicated the side alter where the tabernacle had been to the patron saint of our parish and you could see the joy on peoples faces that the tabernacle was back where we all wanted it to be. (Now all he needs to do is bring back the alter rails and I would be overjoyed!)

Within the first few weeks of Father starting at our parish he had a meeting that all were invited to attend so he could hear what it was we were wanting in our parish, and it seems like he was listening and foloowing through.

I am just so excited to have a priest who seems to really care, to listen to the parishioners, to be so excited and filled with the love of the Lord!!! This is truly a blessing for our parish and I just thought I would share this good news with you all.

If he is a good priest—do not forget to care for him --both as priest and as a person. Invite him out to dinner–once in while, etc. 🙂

God bless him!! The younger priests that were not in formation during or right after VII seem to be on the whole more orthodox than their middle aged counterparts. We need everyone to pray for holy vocations.

I’m jealous! Nothing but Fr. Feelgoods here at the Church of the Most Maximum Convenience.

Or take him a dinner.
Our wonderful Pastor and fellow priests love when we bring dinner to them. As long as we bring the Ice cream Turtle pie for dessert!
