Has been glued to EWTN’s live stream since 12 noon.

Yes, “Habemus Papam!”

I really did not want to miss the moment our new Pope was elected and was in work all day. I ran home, put the tv on just as white smoke billowed and now I’m glued to the tv in excited anticipation.

Lord, bless our new Pope. May he guide us and please you.

Thank the Lord, I pray for a man who can continue the new evangalization as well as the house cleanings already underway.

Pope Francis I will pray for you holy father. 😃 God bless you in all you do as our Pope.

:highprayer:

Welcome pope Francis. Love the name choice, Francis of Assisi is my favorite saint.

Jorge Cardinal Mario Bergoglio, SJ of Argentina is Pope Francis! Axios! Axios! Axios!
First Jesuit to be elected Pope!

His chosen papal name is apparently in honor of St. Francis Xavier, who was a Jesuit, and not for St. Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscans.

And a first for Latin America!

Oh, I did not know that. So many places said Francis of Assisi. Do you have a link by any chance :)?

Actually what you say makes sense because St. Xavier was a Jesuit. Would be odd for him to choose a Franciscan saint of the same name…

Who cares which one he was thinking of when he chose the name. WE HAVE A NEW POPE! WE HAVE A NEW POPE! WE HAVE A NEW POPE! :extrahappy::extrahappy:

God bless you, Papa Francesco!!!

May you restore the Church and Christianity of Christ and His poverty to counteract false gospels of false prosperity and and compromise with the world…may you further unite all Catholics across ethnic and racial lines, and may this grace touch all people of good will!

The motto Bergoglio used as a bishop was “miserando atque eligendo” (lowly and yet chosen), which is rather fitting, since “eligendo” also means “elected”!

We must wait to see if he retains it as his papal motto.

Someone commented on CNN (of all channels), that you could actually feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in the square while everyone was waiting for the announcement. I could certainly feel it when that very simple, humble and godly man stepped out onto the balcony. I truly believe that he is God’s choice.
