We meditate on Christ’s suffering, we meditate before a crucifix.

This is rather hard for me to do… but I do it. This seems stressed in the, say devotion to the Divine Mercy, the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy… “For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world”. The Stations of the Cross is another example, in fact, the examples go on and on and on.

Isaiah 53 describes it well, a man of suffering and it seems a “man of sorrows” also is prominent in the Bible.

Do people meditate on this? Do you really feel it in your heart? I’m curious.

And I should have said it, He did it so we would enjoy eternal salvation and He carried our sins with Him to the Cross. I try and appreciate how I am suppose to do this. I can pray definitely.

Yes, and yes. Sometimes I literally cry tears. Other times I feel very sombre and almost depressed. Then sometimes, I feel mostly normal. Sometimes I cry for hours after. I have a strong devotion to the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy in song.
Also the Litany of the Saints in song I will pray/meditate/sing along with. That too sometimes makes me cry. It is VERY moving and stirs my soul greatly. Sometimes it is such a strong sensation I can almost see Him or sense Him next to me it seems. Very intimate.

I admire both of you for your “witness” really, and that is what it is.

Sometimes, I get a sad feeling in my heart, like what was said above, “poor Jesus”, as if a loved one, a friend, a sibling, someone you hold dear and close is going through something bad. And I bring it up, it is very important to the faith.

I sometimes, pray to Jesus, to God, to give me more insight into the mysteries of our faith, to give myself more appreciation.

I like your avatar 🙂
Am tossing up whether to watch the Passion or not,I did when it first came out ,it distressed me because it was like seeing your best friend going through such terrors. But then I want to know ,to understand what He went through for us,to save us.I start crying when I recal the film.I like the sorrowful mysteries best because of this reason.I think it’s something that we will never tire or sit back from learning no matter how painful.
This is real and this is our faith

To me, the fact that one friend sold him out for money, his really good friend denied knowing him and the other 9 friends except for one ran away is also super sad. We have all had “friends” like that and we know exactly how they will act before it even happens.

I always thought the reason St. John the Evangelist was the only apostle to escape martyrdom was that he was brave enough to follow Jesus to the foot of the cross, therefore taking the risk of being martyred himself. Because he already shared in Christ’s passion, he was spared from having to actually go through torture.
