We missed Easter Vigil Mass

Last year was the first Easter Vigil Mass that we’ve ever attended. Our daughter was asked to be an alter server for the mass so instead of attended the typical 11am mass that we usually go to, we went to Easter Vigil. It was marvelous.

So we’ve looked forward to attending the Easter Vigil for this entire year.

And yesterday afternoon I got a whopper of a migraine headache that landed me squarely in bed with the drapes closed, lights off and sound turned down low. I really wanted to go to that mass.

For those of you who have never been to an Easter Vigil Mass, you have no idea how beautiful it is. For those of us who have only attended one, and looked forward to attending it again, but missed it, we know exactly what we missed and are regretting not attending. So I’m going to sign off shortly and get ready for 11am Easter mass. It will be nice, but it won’t be anything like the Vigil mass.

Aw…

I know about migraine. I’m not a chronic migraine sufferer, but I’ve had three or four that completely kicked my butt and put me in bed with a towel over my eyes.

I’m certain God will understand. And there’s always next year.

I usually go to the Easter Vigil even though it is usually about 3 hours long due to all the things going on. That way I miss the “two timers” on Sunday

For the past two years, I have gone to a Solemn High Mass (old form) at my parish.

We also managed to set off the fire alarm tonight since the fire was lit in the “Orchestral Section” of the church.

Well I just got back from 11am mass, the bells are computerized and 5 minutes into the start of mass they started ringing . . . and ringing . . . and ringing. Father called out to one of the teenagers who was sitting next to the Sacristy to go in and turn them off. I was in the same row, but opposite end. I could see he had no clue. Another boy went in, the two of them couldn’t get the bells to stop. One of the ushers went in. So now I was watching 3 people not able to turn the bells off. Finally I walked in there, they were right, the button didn’t work, the bells would not turn off. I unplugged it. The rest of mass was uneventful.

But my head still hurts

Sorry to hear about your migraine–I understand migraines all too well.

We missed Easter Vigil, too. I worked all day and was too tired; sounds wimpy, but I was beat. I always love it and am really sorry it didn’t work out for us this year. I absolutely love all the readings; I know others who are bored by them, but to see the history of our faith all in one fell swoop blows me away.

We got up early and headed to Mass first thing; it was great!
