The Sacred Heart of Christ is not a ‘holy card’ for the devout, but is “the heart of revelation, the heart of our faith, because He made Himself small,” choosing this way “of humbling Himself, of emptying Himself even to death on the Cross.”
According to Vatican Radio, Pope Francis stressed this during his daily morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta, as the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus…
“He was enamored of our smallness, and for this reason He has chosen us. And He chooses the small: not the great, the small. And He is revealed to the small: ‘you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to little ones.’
“And He not only chooses and reveals Himself to the little ones; He calls the little ones: ‘Come to me, all you who labour and are burdened, and I will give you rest.’”… Full text can be read HERE
Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It is a good time to ponder the humility of Jesus, during this month of June, dedicated to His Sacred Heart. That tiny human heart of the Word Made Flesh, began to beat beneath the heart of Mary Immaculate, His little handmaid.

I thought it was so awesome in that message where he said God makes Himself a slave to us. It is not we who choose God but He has chosen us …

Dear elohimrules,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Jesus became a “slave” in so far as He willingly “emptied Himself” becoming obedient unto death on a cross. (cf Phil 2) We need by God’s Grace to follow Jesus in our willingness to have His mind and heart. Small children are dependent by nature – but as we grow older we need to “turn and become humble like a little child” (cf Mt 18).

Dear petra and StudentMI,

Thank you both for your replies also. Please let us pray for one another that we may truly learn from Jesus to take His yoke (His obedience to the Father) and learn from His Meek and Humble Heart to grow more and more like Him!
