The Pope has written this shocking statement:

**"[Using condoms] in certain cases, where the intention is to reduce the risk of infection, it can nevertheless be first step on the way to another, more humane sexuality,"
**

and

"There may be justified individual cases, for example when a male prostitute uses a condom, where this can be … a first bit of responsibility, he reportedly said, "to re-develop the understanding that not everything is permitted and that one may not do everything one wishes."

  1. Please pray that he will be guided by the Holy Spirit ONLY in making all decisions and statements, that he will consider the ramifications of changing the Church’s teaching and understanding of birth control and human sexuality.
  2. That God will protect souls, those who are already living in sin and for those who might see this as a license or legitimization to sin further or begin to sin sexually.
  3. That the Church’s moral authority will be protected.

Please don’t ignore this thread. This is very, very serious. These statements could lead to grave scandal and another serious break in the integrity of the moral teaching of the Church.

Lord, I am not an expert on moral theology and only know that it is normally wrong to use condoms. I don’t know what to think about the Pope’s statements. Please keep our Holy Father free from error and guided by your Holy Spirit so he will guide your Church rightly and according to your will and good pleasure. Help me to understand why the Pope said what he said and please help him retract his words, if what he said goes against sound moral theology. He is a wise and holy, so there must be something I don’t understand. Please help me to get to the bottom of this. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.
 
I think that this is really just a major misunderstanding of what the Pope actually said. Try looking up a news article from a Catholic source and you will see what I am saying. Anyway:

Lord, keep safe Your most tender creation mankind. Let those who use condoms outside of marriage see the err of their ways, and renew their commitment to treat their bodies as the temples of the holy spirit You have instilled in them. Give them wisdom to choose abstinance and to not waste the gift of reproductive ability You have given them. Allow in certain cases Lord that those who are attacked may be healed of their wounds, and that when man makes the mistake of having intercourse outside of marriage, that they know enough to use condoms to prevent the spread of disease. However Your son, our Pope may see suitable for the use of condoms to prevent disease, and to protect human lives, or to prevent children from being ones who starve rather than be able to eat, let this be the reasoning of our Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. Bless this decision in ways we can understand, and prevent our Pope from fallibility in his words and actions, Amen.
 
I ask you dear Father in Heaven to help all of us respect the authority of the Pope in these specific issues and that we all examine his words carefully so as not to misunderstand him or cause others to misunderstand him. I pray this in Christ’s name. Amen.
