I just would like to start this thread by saying, I was a former protestant. I was born into the Assembly of God Denomination. I was later taught the Baptist Doctrine and followed it for many years. I went to Baptist Seminary for three years where I studied the Scripture and Evangelized for the Baptists. I now am converting the Catholicism. Because the Scripture clearly points to a unified church. It came to my mind, wow not only does the Catholic Church teach the scriptures and stays true to the scriptures, it is the only church that is unified.

I have a big burden now for my protestant brothers in Christ. Because they are Blind. It says in St. Matthew 15:13 “But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up, Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” I am burdened for them because without knowing, they are falling into a ditch. They will never understand the mysteries of the Scriptures because most believe what they are told and which scriptures to look at. I believe that all scriptures are linked and no one scripture can be used to seal an entire belief system. But for some reason we are seeing so many people fall by the wayside, there still alive and serving God, but they will never be as useful as they could be. It is like the parable of the Sower, how some fell in the thickets and some by the sand, but some (the Church) were planted on good soil. In order to grow healthy in the Lord, you must be on good soil. It says in **Matthew 7:22-23 “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” ** This scares me because many of them do not know of there fate. I have many family members who are Protestant and I am burdened for them because they are not serving Christ. It is easy to cast them aside and let them live there own way and serve God the way they seem fit, but the Bible says “Go out unto the all the world and preach the gospel” The very least we can do is pray for our Protestant friends, because they are treading on a very fine line. I see a major growth in the Non-Denominational movement of a care free Christian life, and I fear for there souls. I feel that many “lukewarm” believers are being produced and the result is a broken world. As Catholics and Followers of Christ please remember to pray for them that God would work on there hearts to draw them to him. Only the Holy Spirit can do that but we can help the Spirits work by Prayer. The Bible is true to that with this scripture
2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Remember our purpose on this earth is to serve God and lead others to the saving Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Lord Bless you all.

Well, many thanks for your prayers, bless you but…
Ehhh… I wonder what you call “protestant” exactly…
You say catholic and yes, we’ve got something big and unified…
You say protestant and you tip your head and look at a ton of denominations.

But you know what? Please don’t treat us like we’re all going to hell, for goodness sake.
Sooooo… Protestants don’t serve Christ?

I’ve seen a lot of so called Catholics who aren’t serving Christ either.

I believe there are plenty of “Protestants” who are saved, and plenty of “Catholics” who aren’t, and visa versa.

I do not believe all Protestants are going to Hell, I believe some will go to heaven, Most purgatory and some hell.

My dear friend in Christ, I AGREE!

In aditrion we must KNOW WHAT WE BELIEVE

and WHY we believe it

and Be able to explain it [prove it]

And most importantly LIVE OUR FAITH PUBLICALLY FOR ALL TO SEE.

Welcome Home!

Love and prayers,
Pat

I agree!! I also came from an AOG family. When about 20 yrs old I came to the Baptist church and took up with their beliefs. Eternal Security etc. I had a family of 6 children that are now grown with families of their own.I thank God that they have also raised their children to be christians. However a little ovedr 5 years ago I converted to the Catholic Church. I have the same burden for my family and my friends still in those churches. I am so full of joy upon learning the fullness of the Truth. I long for my own children and my two sisters to be open to the truth in the catholic church , They just are not interested in my reasons for becoming catholic. THe only thing I can do is pray for them all. My church has a 24/7 Adoration chapel and I fill in the hour of 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday AM. I spend much of that hour praying for all of my protestant family to be open to the Holy Spitit. I think that is the best thing that we can do for them. I know that God answers our prayers er need to be patient!!

I will remember to pray for ALL our protestant relitives for here on.God Bless You All.
Dave

I understand where you are coming from. My Testimony

I agree there is a great need for prayer.

Their errors are so pervasive that only the Holy Spirit can break through to them.

Amen, brothers…we should absolutely pray for our separated brothers and sisters. I came from a Pentecostal Church and I still love and I still visit my old friends. They are wonderful Christians who are striving to live for Christ and I can learn from them still. I pray for them not because I think they are going to hell for that is not for me to judge, but so that they can discover the growing beauty and fullness of the faith that was originally deposited with the first apostles.

When I entered the Catholic Church, it was like coming home, just as Scott Hahn’s book, Rome Sweet Home states. It’s also a sad fact that while Catholics are the largest single denomination in North America, ex-Catholics are the second largest. We need to pray for them to come home to the joy of our tangible Communion with Jesus in the Eucharist.

God Bless,
CSJ

I believe there uis a danger of being arrogant or prideful when we intimate that our way is better than your way. I sense that God honors all who love Him and serve Him. That doesn’t mean that any tradition is as good as another. It simply means that there are many roads that lead to glory.

Perhaps we would do better to pray for unity. That in Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit, we build each other up in truth and light.

I agree with you in some sense. When posting this there is no intent of pride or arrogance in my meaning. But there is many heresies being committed by ones who are outside the Church of God, they may mean well but it is just like the parable of the “Blind Leading the Blind” I pray that God would reveal himself, there is only one true way to bring yourself the closest possible to God and that is the Catholic way. By Rejecting Apostolic succession, the immaculate conception, the prayers of the Saints, Baptismal Regeneration, Salvation through faith alone (feel good Salvation), and the infallibility of the Church body, one is committing heresy against God’s church and God Himself, they may know it but heresy is heresy . That is why we must pray that the shroud of ignorance is lifted from there eyes.

The average protestant is not guilty of heresy, merely ignorance. One must seek truth always. Those who, through pride close themselves off from the possibility of being touched by Truth are, themselves imperfect. Some, however, firmly believe that their tradition is firmly rooted in Truth. In love, we must pray for their hearts to be touched by the Spirit and led to the fullness of Truth. But, to accuse the person who is sitting and praising God in the Baptist, Lutheran or AOG pew of heresy does seem a bit harsh and I might say, pompous.

God knows the heart of all souls. The Holy Spirit draws all of us to God through Christ. None of us have a corner on that market. While I applaud your passion for Christ’s Church, we would do well to remember that Jesus saved the Samaratin as well as the Jew.

I often wonder if God had a covenant with the Babylonians, Mesopatamians and the Greeks as He did with the “Chosen” people. After all, Jesus came to save all…

70 percent of the world is not Christian. I would not be too worked up about us…just an opinion…

I am sure you have heard that a three or more braided rope is stronger than the individual braids. If we were all one i am sure our minoirty could pull the world closer to God.🙂

True.
I am quite pessimistic about that approach working in reality and the reality of hell looms over what I view as immediate needs.

I like never post on here. I love reading the threads and i am never ceased to be amazed how many great Catholic theologians there are on here. This is largely why i post so rarely, most of the time my semi-intelligent thought has already been stated much better by someone else.

It is my opinion, and i have heard other Catholics make this same claim, that our first missionary responsibility is to those who have no knowledge of God, followed by those who have no knowledge of Christ and then finally to those who have no knowledge of His one true Church.

That is to say, the ones most in danger of hell are the atheist and agnostic, so it makes the most sense for these people to be our primary focus. Muslims and Jew and Hindus may not know Christ but they may know God and through striving to follow Him they may yet be saved. Protestants know Christ but reject His Church, they may not have the fullness of the truth but they are better off than the non-Christians.

A muslim friend of mine once told me they have a saying which goes, me against my brother, my brother and i against my cousin, my cousin and i against my neighbor, my neighbor and i against my countryman, my countryman and i against the my fellow muslim and my fellow muslim and i against the infidel.

I think we as Catholics should have a similar view. Me against my fellow Catholic, my fellow Catholic and i against our fellow Christian, our fellow Christian and us against our fellow religious and all us religious against the atheist and agnostic.

That’s my view, God bless You all, and keep up the great posts!

This is my first post so be kind.
I occasionally have worshiped at a large mega church (20000 + ,5 Sunday morning worship services) down the road from where I live when I have not been able to make it to my own church.
While talking to some of the members there I learned that over forty percent of the people that regularly attend that church are professing Catholics .
I think that maybe you ought to be praying for your own Catholic brothers and sister. The protestant can take care of themselves.

Really ? By dividing and splitting some more ? Yes we Catholics need prayers, as you do protestants, but this was a little excuse what may come off as being judgemental smug, lets say.

I think that maybe you ought to be praying for your own Catholic brothers and sister. The protestant can take care of themselves.Yeah, right. That sounds more like the usual propaganda that the Church is falling apart and we’re losing thousands, when in fact, we are growing just fine.

As for you guys being able to “take care of themselves”, I can’t tell. You have a wide variety of denominations and all varying degrees of opinions/teaching of doctrines. Yet you all proclaim yourselves as teaching correct Biblical doctrines guided by the Holy Spirit.

History shows that the beliefs held by most modern n-Cs bear little resemblance to the verifiable writings of the early church, not to mention the glaring fact that they contradict New Testament scripture. (For example: The Eucharist IS Scriptural and Who REALLY Preaches “A Different Gospel”?)

Yeah… I’ll continue to pray for n-Cs because they obviously need it.
So when did I say that I was Protestant. Could be that I;'m a Catholic
Riiiiight… Read the links above and then let us know what you believe.

Why bother to misrepresent yourself like that? If you’re n-C, then you probably hold to the same essential errors of the modern new winds of doctrines of men from the Protestant Reformation of 500 years ago, like Sola Scriptura and Sola Fide. 🤷

There you go C.M. off the deep end. I seem some of the same people sitting in a pew at our Catholic Church as I have seem at this non demonational mega church.
What I’m saying is that maybe you should be praying that these people would be faithful to there own Church. and thats all I got to say about that

.An unverifiable assertion and in no way substantive of your previous post where you said “While talking to some of the members there **I learned that over forty percent of the people that regularly attend that church are professing Catholics **.” “Some” does not support an alleged “40%” by any stretch of the imagination. 🤷
What I’m saying is that maybe you should be praying that these people would be faithful to there own Church.
and thats all I got to say about thatThat’s assuming that we don’t already do that.

Lord knows we have so many sheep stealing a-Cs and n-Cs running around feeding Catholics with their errors that we certainly do have to pray much for our own Catholic friends and family.

But try to tell us that 40% of some mega n-D flock is Catholics because that’s just straight up ludicrous and especially so without any real documentation which neither your friend nor you yourself can provide.

Yeah…I’d say that you are best served by dropping it.👍
