I believe that we Catholics need a Catholic Priest here to keep us in line
when we step out of it and act in an unChristian-like manner.

Because we have such a respect for Priests and their authority to correct us,
I believe that if there was a Priest here lurking
and keeping tabs on us,
not only would we watch what we’d say,
but we’d think twice before posting.

I see what you are saying, but in a way, I am glad that there are not a lot of priests on here. True, it would keep some in check, and it would give more “control” over what is said. But, there are those who say that without a priest telling us what to say, Catholics are lost. This is clearly not true. Just look around 😉

Ok then…“I” need a Priest around! :rotfl:

i’d say we could use a Catholic nun, one who used to be a school principal, or taught 8th grade boys. preferably one who still wears a traditional habit. never met a Catholic school grad yet who was more afraid of Father than of Sister.

:rotfl: Will you share him with me???
Of course, but if don’t bother waiting around if I’m in the confessional.

While in Confession, the penitents usually stand in line while the Priest hears the confession;

But in my case, they have Priests stand in line to hear my confession.

Some run out screaming “No mas!” with their hands on their ears!

😃

I’d love to see Father Corapi take on the Muslim posters here!😃

😃

That reminds me…

There were two Catholic nuns enjoying a football game.

3 fans came and sat behind them. Feeling that the nuns would bring down their “good time”, one told the other two to follow his lead.

1st Fan:
‘Boy, I wish I was in Georgia. There are only 30 Catholics there!’
(said loudly so that the nuns couldn’t help but overhear him)

2nd Fan:
‘Yeah, I wish I was in Tenesee. They are only 20 Catholics there!’

The 3rd fan winks and says:
‘I wish I was in Mississippi, there are only 10 Catholcs there!’

Finally, one of the nuns turns around and says:

“Why don’t you go to hell! You won’t find any Catholics there!”

I’d like to see him “correct” the Marian Belittlers and the anti-Protestant Catholics here and the anti-Catholics too.

😃

I do a mean Father Corapi imitation. I have some friends at EWTN that always threaten to make me come by and show him when he is in town. I am not about to do that.

As Fr Groeschel says, he would never take on St Theresa of Avila or Mother Angelica! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I love Father Corapi.

I don’t get enough of him.

It was Father Groeschel that really helped me along with my reversion to The Church.

I watched him for 10 years. I always eanted to meet him. I was shocked to know that he lived literally minutes away from me.

I brought back someone to The Church who had been away from it for 20 years. She was either extremely on fire for The Church or extremely lukewarm.

Anyway, she waltzed into one of the Friaries around where we live. She wanted to do a confession.

I spoke to her later that day and she told me that she went to do her confession and the regular Priests that we saw weren’t in that day but that some older Priest heard it…she said he was Father Gro, Gro…I interrupted and said “Father Groeschel?” not really wanting to hear her say yes. And she said “That’s the one!”

I was sooooooooo jealous like the Prodigal Son’s brother!

I complained to God proclaiming that it was me who brought her back to The Church and she got to meet him and have her confession heard by him? I was just moaning about how unfair it was!

Then I felt His voice like the Prodigal Son’s father telling me that I was always with “Him” and that I should be happy for her. In reality, I was happy for her, but just jealous for me.

I realllly had to work that one out for a while.

That was about 2 years ago.

This Easter, I was invited to the Easter Vigil with The Franciscan Friars of The Renewal (I do volunteer work for them). I went not expecting anything grand. So I’m in the front of the Church, all the lights are off, everybody’s outside.

All of a sudden this hush comes over the crowd. Everybody’s looking past my direction behind me into The Church.

Out begins this presession of Priest Monks in these beautiful robes holding candles.

It was like a scene out of The Lord Of The Rings when the Elves came out of The Forest. They seem to just manifest out of the pitch blackness of the darkened Church.

Now mind you, I was “in” the Church as a special guest of The Friars and I knew most of the Priests.

At the end of the long line of Priests comes these two older much smaller in frame Priests.

It was none other than Father Apostoli and Father Groeshcel themselves!

I was in completely awe!

You could feel the holiness eminate off of these men. I felt as if I as in the presence of Saints. It was a supernatural experience.

Father Groeschel didn’t have a candle and I seen that they were scrambling to get him one. I without a moment’s hesitation (an after all the trouble I went through to get my own candle) walked up to Father Groeschel and gave him my candle. He looked up an said thank you.

I stepped back in complete humility thinking I just gave up my light for the ceremony for one of God’s greatest Saints.

When his candle was brought to him, he told them to give his candle to me.

So for the Easter Vigil this year, I held his candle and held mine.

What God didn’t give me before, He gave me in great abundance two years later after I let go of my jealousy.

And guess who gave me a ride home that night?

Father Apostoli!

And as we sat in the minivan (a simple 20 year old van that was donated to The Friars), we prayed to start out the drive, we prayed when someone cut us off, we prayed for everything.

I was introduced to Father Apostoli as I sat right next to him and he was told of the work I’ve done for the Friar’s house and he was grateful.

We talked about my reversion and when I told him my story he told me that I should tell my story on Sunday Night Live with Father Groeschel (there are those graces again!). I told him that I would collect my experiences and let them decide which I should share.

When I told him of my personal studies and what I found throughout my studies, he told me that I had a Charism. I told him that I felt called to helping those Catholics who wanted to come home to The Church. He told me that God could use me for that and then he placed his hands on me and prayed for what he called my “Ministry”. I was in tears.

So that’s what I’m gearing up for. I just have to spiritually purify myself and purge myself of my pride and of my worldly ego and vanity and then I can do that to which I’m being called to do.

Nevertheless, the Friars have assured me a meeting with Father Groeschel when I’m ready to share my testimony. Sunday Night Live is literally aired about 5 blocks from my house.

But I’m not ready yet.

Now I’m so glad I posted this thread.

Maybe it was meant to be.

:crossrc:

By the way, Father Groeschel and Father Apostoli are walking, talking, living, breathing Saints!

When I was in the presence of them and with them flanked by the Priests in their beautiful white robes…

…I felt as if I was with The Apostles themselves.

If this was in anyway just 1/100th of what effect The Apostles had on people,
it’s no wonder that Christianity became what it is today.

And I can’t even begin to imagine the aura of Jesus.

I once felt that I didn’t know if I’d believe Christ back then when He was around, but being around the Friars and having experienced what I experienced, I know I would’ve believed him.

I would’ve just dropped everything to follow Him.

And you know something?

This whole thread comes full circle…THAT’S WHY I love and respect Priests.

Because they did what The Apostles did!

They gave up The World to serve Christ!

God bless them and The Nuns and all the Religious!

Pray for them.

👍

Thanks for sharing these wonderful experiences with us! Wow!

As a graduate of 2 catholic schools I can agree with that. It’s funny at the time you almost feared some of them others were sweet and gentle but as time goes buy all you have is respect and admiration for them, of course that’s my experience only and you mileage may vary.
