In a nutshell, my dh has had 3 failed back surgeries in 7 years. He is on heavy duty pain meds and is addicted to them as he has been on them for so long. On his own, he has altered a couple of prescriptions because he was in so much pain and wanted relief so he could be a husband and father. We realize this was wrong and we feel badly that it happened.

Yesterday when at the pharmacy to pick up legit prescriptions, a cop confronted me asking if what I was picking up was legit or forged. He said he is waiting to hear from our doc’s office if these scripts are real. If they don’t verify the meds, the cop said dh will be facing criminal charges.

I feel so sick. My dh is a good, upstanding citizen. He has never done anything to hurt anyone. He is sick…addicted to pain meds. We don’t know if he’ll ever be pain free. We know what we’ve done wrong and we are ready to be on the right path.

Please pray for dh to get better, to not get in trouble, and to get the help he needs. Our family has been through enough and we don’t need to go through this. DH made poor choices and he knows that. PLEASE PRAY FOR EVERYTHING TO BE OK AND FOR THIS SITUATION TO BE BEHIND US.

Thank you.

Keeping your husband, yourself and all your family in prayer.

Father, you alone hold the answers
for us to the addictions of this world.
We humbly ask you to help us to help
those who are addicted to drugs (legal
and illegal) and alcohol.
We are asking you to heal this man
of his addiction, heal him from his
pain, and head him off in a better
direction with his life.
We thank you Father for alerting someone
to what was going on in this situation
before it could lead to permanent brain
damage, health issues or death.
Give him and his family strength and
understanding as they now truly begin
to fight this battle.
We ask all of this in the name of Jesus!
AMEN

Praying for this situation.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, you know the depths of despair unremitting pain can cause. Forgive this man for his act of desperation, see into his heart and accept his sorrow and remorse. Help this family move forward from this incident and bring them into your loving embrace. amen

Dearest Go_Bengals,

Know that my prayers are with you and your husband. My husband also suffers from chronic pain and fights an addiction to Vicodin. I truly know what you are going through as my husband also found himself in trouble with the law, as he was getting Rx’s at different pharmacies. Unfortunately our medical system is often prejudice against people who are so miserable that they do things they would never ever dream of doing, if not in so much pain. I will keep you in my prayers and know that maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Maybe your husband can find a physician who will prescribe something that will be more helpful with his pain. The police will definitely take into consideration that your husband is not a bad person, only in terrible pain and needs a new plan to take care of his pain. I know the Church teaches us to offer up our suffering, but chronic pain changes our way of living, from our spirituality to our everyday outlook. Please know that I am holding your family in my prayers and am here for you at any time. God bless you and the cross that your husband and you carry. May God grant you the ability to find that certain combination of medications and therapy to help alleve some of your dear husbands suffering.
In Christ’s Mercy and Peace,
Kathleen

Praying for your dh…and that as the situation unfolds it will unfold well for you all and soon become a past memory…

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Turn back, O God of hosts,
look down from heaven and tend this vine.

Protect the vine, for your right hand planted it;
and the son of man, whom you made strong.
The vine is burnt and dug up;
and they too will perish when they see you rebuke them.
Stretch out your hand over your chosen one
over the son of man, whom you made strong –
and we will not forsake you, and you will give us life;
and we will call on your name.

Bring us back, Lord God of hosts:
let your face shine on us and we shall be saved.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Dear One,

Keeping you and your family in our family’s prayers. Pain is such a hard thing for the medical profession to treat at times. May your dear husband find relief and help through all of this. You are in my thoughts and prayers throughout the day and night.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths
for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long.

Lord, bring us hope. All glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.

My thoughts are with you, both. Please have your DH get some needed help, now. I’m sure, if confronted, and, worst case scenario happens, the prosecutors will know that there is no criminal intent, so I wouldn’t worry about that end of it. Just see to it that he goes for help with his addiction and that he receives the necessary prescriptions to get him through.
May God bless you both.
