Benedict and company avoided the public relations stumbles that have so often plagued his pontificate in the past.

Cynical Catholics (including many on these forums) have said it’s not important for the pope to manage his message, because the media will attack the pope and the Church no matter what is said. This visit is pretty good evidence they’re wrong.

The Holy Spirit is powerful in our Papa! Thank you, Jesus! Is there anyone who better fulfills God’s commandment, delivered to us by our first Pope, than our current Pope?

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.” (1 Peter 3:15)

‘The Screws of The World’ is a bellweather for British crass bad taste.
 
Good, now I hope this brings to a close all the puerile carping and whining about the BBC being anticatholic. The BBC’s handing was fair and evenhanded. This should also end the canard that Britain is anticatholic. Just isn’t so, as this article demonstrates.
