The timing is quite intriguing…
Bush has the lowest ratings ever…
he finally schedules a speech regarding the war in Iraq…
and lo and behold, these caches are being recovered…
and we’re supposed to believe it’s all coincidence???
:hmmm:

Either
a) the military knew about these caches all along but didn’t want to reveal the news until ‘the right time’ 😉
or
b) the military is exerting a whole heck of a lot of pressure to finally get the Iraqi citizens to start coughing up this information

But the press release would have us to believe the Iraqi people did this on their own initiative out of the kindness of their hearts to show appreciation for all we’ve done for them and to let the world know they sincerely want to put an end to the insurgency. Thus, the American public has proof that a little patience is all that is needed, and of course, more trust in the leadership of President Bush.

Expect another poll to be taken in a couple of weeks to see if their manipulations succeeded in upping Bush’s approval rating.

Or it could have just happened as presented. Take a look at the last 90 days of press releases from CENTCOM. You’ll see a few of these types of stories and others comment on captures and weapon recovery. It’s actually quite common if you look for it.

Unfortunately not common enough to stop the helicopters from being shot down and the other bombings/attacks which have been taking lives daily - from us and the Iraqis.

I’m still not happy with the turn of events in Afghanistan, the killing continues there as well.

Common enough to make your first post moot however.

Actually not.
If indeed, they’re so common they’ve been around all along - if you look for it -
why then is it surfacing now?

Perhaps the distinction lies in the press release…
if what Gilliam posted is just another one of those ‘common’ reports one has to look for then it is only Gilliam’s timing for raising it at this forum I raise my brow to.

I was under the impression, upon first reading of the thread, that this was a major press release that would be posted in all major newspapers and internet news reports, such as CNN, Reuters, etc.

In that case, I was questioning the timing of a major press release like that after Bush’s speech if the news really isn’t news after all since it’s so common.

What is “news” is that things like this are happening all the time but yet the general public is unaware. So much so that you hear about and think it is a “big deal” or assert somehow that it is part of an administration ploy to boost public approval.
