Wearing a brown scapular

I have been on a faith-filled journey for almost a year now. I have seen many people wearing scapulars and have read about them, especially the brown scapular which seems to be most prevalent-at least from what I have seen šŸ™‚ How do you go about asking your priest to enroll you? Do I just say ā€œHey Father! Can I wear a brown scapular?ā€ Also, I would be more apt to wear the medal all the time than the scapular. I have very sensitive skin. Thoughts?

At our parish we have a specific time schedule to enroll people in the brown scapular. I believe itā€™s the first Saturday of each month after the morning Mass. If your parish doesnā€™t have anything like this than I would certainly just call your priest or even catch him after Mass sometime and tell him you are interested in being enrolled. From there you can discuss a mutual time where he can enroll you.

I know my Priest did it for me directly after Mass one Saturday evening.
 
Wearing the medal is traditionally discouraged. You should also be prepared to be faithful to the conditions and promises that you will profess when you are enrolled to benefit from Our Ladies promises to those who faithfully wear it.

I was enrolled with my daughter and her friend. We just asked the priest for an appointment and explained why we wanted an appointment with him so he would be prepared.

It worked well, because in meeting with us, he wanted to know why we had chosen to do this and to know we understood what we were asking.
 
Iā€™ve been wearing a brown scapular for a few years now, never knew you needed to be instated to wear it! šŸ˜® Iā€™ll definitely have to ask my parish priest to see if I can be instated then.

Also, do you need to be female to wear the brown scapular? What are the conditions and promises that one makes when being enrolled in the brown scapular?
