Wearing a crucifix

I got to thinking about this from another thread…

any recommendations for a…shall we say… crucifix with a bit more masculine appearance? Perhaps an specific online source?

Most of the ones I’ve seen are with a thin chain, and are styled more for women. I’m not looking for a Mr. T chain but something a bit more stout, shall we say.

We own 3 Chirstian stores, so there are a few choices, but my companies do not sell to the public, why not try EWTN’s religious catalog? Do you have a catholic store in your area, I’m sure they could find what you are looking for. Good Luck and God Bless.

I see your in SE Michigan? There’s several stores I can recommend to you to shop in person. That way you can see size and style before you spend your money. Fuch’s, Mateja’s, and Catholic Supply House all carry crosses and crucifixes. PM me if you’d like more info on these stores.

When shopping, only focus on the crucifix itself. A lot of them come with cheap chains. You can always buy yourself a thicker or larger chain. That’s what I did when I bought mine several years ago.

We live in Southern Baptist land and still found a jewelry store that had crucifixes (not crosses) that could be ordered. They usually show them life size or at least list the size. Once you find what you like pick out a larger chain (manly) and have the jeweler select a bale that will accept the larger chain. This will allow the crucifix to slide easier and not get tangled. The bale on my chain is flat almost like a ribbon which allows the chain to slide easier but it tapers down at the bottom so the crucifix can be attached. Once the jeweler knows what you want they can show you your options.

You need to have a chain that will support the weight of the Crucifix. I’ve had broken chains before because of this.

One more thing, we offer to our customers if they choose instead of a regular jump ring and double ring on their crucifixes/medals, it’s like a keyring ring, it is much stronger than a regular ring, also you may ask them to order you a rope chain. God Bless.

I bought my crucifix and chain seperately, that way I could get a chain thick enough for the crucifix I wanted. I bought mine on ebay.

It’s a guy thing.

And what was said about chain breakage…I don’t wear jewelry much and am pretty tough on it when I do.
