Hello!
I have searched google but there weren’t any direct answers to the question I had.

I was wondering if it was okay to wear my Veil/ Mantilla out in the open when I’m not in mass? I Only ask because I work during the day on Ash Wednesday so I will be going straight to mass after my shift. If it is acceptable to wear my Veil/ Mantilla to work so I won’t have to worry about it later.

Please let me know if this is okay God Bless 🙂

It is a piece of clothing. Wear it wherever you want to.

I don’t understand why you’d want to wear it for work but that’s totally up to you.

What kind of veil is it? If it’s an infinity veil, then it should be fine to wear it as a scarf. I have a triangular one and fold it to store it in a plastic sandwich bag when it’s not in use.

I’m sure its “ok” if you don’t feel self-conscious about it. But you will be drawing attention to yourself you know.

Ask your employer if you’ll be at work first, it could be a problem there, depending on what you do for a living.

I work in the I.T. Department at the university I attend so I sit at a computer all day

Can you explain why you would wear it to work? That really doesn’t make any sense. I was around “back in the day” and they were only worn to mass.

They are not something that needs to be put on and adjusted or whatever, you don’t even need a mirror to put it on your head, so… what is there to " worry" about? Why wear it to work when it takes seconds to put on in the car?

Quick search on Google, first thing I found. From Veils by Lily website:

“When should I wear my chapel veil?
Wear your veil anytime you are in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, whether present inside a Catholic church for Mass or simply passing through momentarily.”
