I have noticed that I don’t see people wearing their medals outside their clothing (like you would jewelry.) I have a miraculous medal with small St. Michael medal with tiny cross w/sentimental value which I wear on one chain and then a rather large gold crucifix which hangs below my chest level. They are hard to miss!
I saw one lady at one of the more traditional churches eyeball my jewelry with a look like a cross between amusement and disapproval. However at another parish I attended, I noticed a lot of other people - men in particular - also displaying large crucifixes outside their shirts.
I’m just wondering if this is bad taste on my part? I feel I shouldn’t be ashamed to hide my devotion to Jesus by displaying the crucifix or to Mary with my medals. But I seem to be only one at my church. When I do see someone wearing something, it is usually a small, cross, near collar bone which is not that noticeable. Mine is rather conspicuous.
Should I care? Maybe there is no answer really. Just curious.
