Wearing Patron Saint Pendant?

Recently, I was to led to convert to Catholicism from Lutheranism. I have not yet made my confirmation, but it seems that St. Maximilian Kolbe has already chosen me. A dear friend purchased me a St. Maximilian Medal. I wanted an opinion from other Catholics: Should I wear my medal immediately or wait until I am confirmed? I know it doesn’t really matter, but I’m just curious as to what others would do!

Go ahead and start now. It’s never too early to start making friends with the saints and building up your devotion.

Congrats in advance on your upcoming Confirmation, from a fellow devotee of St. Maximilian Kolbe. I was Confirmed in his name back in 2009 (coming from a Methodist background).

Looks like St. Maximillian has already chosen you, so start wearing the medal. If it has not been blessed yet by a priest, do that as soon as you can.

My patron saint is St. Christopher. He has helped me more times that one would imagine. St. Maximilian Kolbe will assist you more as you wait and pray for that confirmation! Place it on tonight. Enjoy!!!

Congratulations for your upcoming confirmation. St. Maximilian is a wonderful saint. He has obviously chosen you and you can rely on him constant intercession. You could wear the medal already if you want.

I take St. Patrick with me everywhere I go for two reasons. The first being, he is my patron Saint. I chose him because I wish to be a Priest in Ireland and I need his intercession and guidance to help me follow Christ and emulate his life that I might fulfill what I believe Christ is calling me too. The second reason being that it is attached to a chain that is so difficult to take on and off that once my sister got it on for me, I opted never to remove it until the chain breaks So love it or hate it, me and my Saint are together for keeps.

I agree go ahead and wear it. I have worn St. Christopher for years. But now he is on my key ring and I wear the Virgin of Guadalupe (not a saint). I’ve been Catholic all my life but I wasn’t confirmed until I was 14. Depending on wear it was purchased it may or may not be blessed already but it wouldn’t hurt to go ahead and get it blessed again.

First off: Welcome Home. Second, I would recommend what others have mentioned to at least get the medal blessed, but wear the medal as soon as you can. Though I do not have a medal of my patron Saint (Saint Maria Goretti) that I wear at this time, I can say that if I had a medal of her I would instantly get it blessed and wear it.

I wear a medal of the Patron of the Religious Order that I am a part of (I am a laywoman in the order) which is Saint Dominic and I have also a medal of Pope Benedict XVI. Of course I have crucifix on as well. I use to never to be one to wear necklaces or really anything around my neck, but now I cannot see myself without them on.
