If the front part of the Brown Scapular is hanging out of the shirt looking like a necklace, is it bad to wear it this way?

I don’t think so. I know several people who wear their scapular on the outside of the clothing.

I personally wear it hidden. It’s very personal for me wearing it, between Virgin Mary and I.

I don’t think it would be wrong, as such, to wear the scapular outside of your clothes. But that is not the purpose. It is a private practice between you and Mary. I agree that it is a very personal practice and not really one that is shared with the general public. I also think that the scapular should be worn as close to the heart as possible to show our devotion to our Lady. That is not official teaching, but it’s how I feel.I personally wear it hidden. It’s very personal for me wearing it, between Virgin Mary and I.

One of the reasons it is made of wool is so that it is slighty irritating to the skin. That irritation helps to remind you of the suffering of Churist and the reasons that you are wearing it in the first place. As with anything else, some people have a different view and choose to wear it where it can be seen. I personally think it is a personal, provate devotion best kept between you, God and the Blessed Virgin.
I have no theological reasons or anything like that; my own opinion is purely aesthetic. Because a scapular is a, well, scapular, it ought to be worn as a scapular and not as a necklace, in other words, over the shoulders and not around the neck.If the front part of the Brown Scapular is hanging out of the shirt looking like a necklace, is it bad to wear it this way?
This is purely purism on my part as I don’t like breaking the link with the full Carmelite scapular. In or out of clothing for me is not an issue.

I’ve seen that in some African countries where there are missionaries, the new converts wear it hanging out, and I think it’s very cute. It is often because they don’t wear t-shirts, in hot African countries. But they aren’t afraid of showing it, rather than pagan necklaces or anything else.
