First let me comment on how excited I am to see a Traditional Catholic forum on Catholic Answers! I guess I just didn’t expect it, nor did I expect such a large representation! It truly comforts me to know that more an more Catholics are becoming keenly aware of the TLM and the spiritual benefits!!!
I am a married father of 4 with one on the way! My wife and 3 daughters do not wear veils or mantillas while praying the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass though some parishioners do. I only knew of the Novus Ordo until about 7 years ago and my family have been attending the TLM exclusively now for about 3 years. In this time our outward dress has changed to reflect our inward appreciation for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass! Some women and children at our parish wear mantillas or veils during Mass. I have often wondered if this is just a cultural thing or if there is a spiritual benefit to be recognized? I have briefly discussed the idea with my wife regarding the children and have read a few things on the internet but would like this group’s insight.
I have often felt intimated in the past regarding the Latin Mass and those who attend, but after several years of regular attendance I really can say that I would sooner die than abandon this form of worship! What a gift from God! I have never loved the going to Mass or receiving the Eucharist like I have since experiencing the graces that come with praying the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in this way!
I feel like the faithful around me would certainly notice if my girls and/or wife started wearing a veil as we sit in the same spot every week in the 2nd row. I guess my dilemma is whether or not it’s propitious to do so or if it’s superfluous at this point?
