Definitely meet with the person playing the music.

For our wedding, I told the organist to do whatever he wanted beforehand.
For the crucifer, ring bearer and maid of honour, I used Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
I entered to Praise my Soul the King of Heaven

A congregational hymn was Be Thou my Vision

The soloist during the signing of the register sang Be Still for the Spirit of the Lord is Moving in this Place

I don’t recall what was played during communion, although I do remember picking something. It might have been Breathe on Me, Breath of God plus others. It was a fairly full church with many receiving communion, so I’m sure it was more than one.

We exited to Lift High the Cross

I would go to the Liturgy and Sacraments forum and ask this question, as there are people there who have an encyclopedic knowledge of sacred music.

Don’t give them specific examples of what you have in mind, though, unless feedback is what you want! (And be ready for some not-very-pleased feedback on what is generally played at weddings…very few people actually ask the organist or a music professional for opinions, so they have the pain of well-bitten tongues to cope with.)

I’m sure that the others posting here know much more about it than I do, but I love Ubi Caritas (I’m planning on having it as the processional or the meditation at my wedding 🙂 ). I’ll see if I can find the arrangement for you if you’re interested!
Love, love, love that! I think it would be a wonderful Meditation hymn.
