I think it’s great that you know yourself well enough to avoid the near occasion of sin. We all have our temptations.

I recently learned that if you were contracepting at the time you engaged in the marital embrace you did NOT consumate your marriage. Not until you engage in the marital embrace by giving yourself totally and not contracepting does the actual consummation take place.

This is true for barrier methods. I’m not sure if it is true for chemical methods.

There are no moral issues. If and when you consummate is entirely up to the two of you.

I am not aware of any Church pastoral guidelines on when to consummate or when it is ideal and I doubt that there are any in existence … O there is one I guess and that is that you don’t want to wait so long if waiting is a near occasion of sin … like if it would cause you to have an affair or something
