Hello,
I am reading the first reading for my cousin’s wedding. Are the suggested Matrimonial readings always read in the exact same way? For example, could the reading be shortened to leave out a line or two at the beginning? Not changing anything, just shortening the verse?

Thank you!

No. Why would anyone want to do that? Not liking the “Wives, be subject to your husband” part?

The Nuptial Mass is a mass like any other. Therefore, the readings are governed by the liturgical rubrics. The Church has readings for many ritual masses, and there are selections to choose from.

One may choose any of the readings, one may not alter them. You can find all the options here, Nos. 801-805

Thank you for the information, it’s very helpful. I will read the verses as they are. I wasn’t aware how they were governed.
